Okay I seem to have an odd problem. My home button has stopped closing whatever app I am in and going to the homescreen. When I long press it still bring up recent apps, and when I double press it still goes to Google Now. Restarts and a wiping of data/cache haven't worked. Any suggestions?

It could be the kernel settings you're running. Mine is super snappy, I got no issues at all.

You will not lose any data when you root, so don't worry :) you only need to wipe data/factory reset when you flash a Custom ROM.

I am using about 2.2 GB on average. My family (5 of us including me) uses about 6GB of our 8GB data plan.

if you're rooted, it will show custom, even if you flashed back. The binary counter within the device will make the splash screen show up custom

I use a speck Candyshell and it doesn't add much bulk or weight to the phone at all, thats my recommendation. The smaller and light silicone cases just don't offer the kind of protection a hard case does. The Candyshells are on the more expensive side, but you can get them on Amazon cheaper...

If you flash the KT-SGS4 Kernel you can set the vibration strength anywhere from 5-130% within it's settings app.

I am not entirely sure, most likely your system runs out of memory when stopping a high-intensive app on a dime to return you to the home screen, it has to cache whatever processes your were doing so you can switch back to it and pick up exactly where you left off.

That is certainly a possibility many apps are not yet optimized for the S4.

In your developer settings, select animator duration scale and turn it to 'off' see if that helps. If not, then there isn't alot you can do unrooted I don't believe.
