Thread S-Pen nib, how long will it last?

I notice that there are no spare nibs in the box. My previous umpteen Note smartphones have all come with some spare nibs and a removal tool but none came with the Tab S7. The irony is that I intend to use the pen much more with my tablet than I ever did/do with the phones... How long should...

    Post Struggling to remove s-pen

My SPen is a very tight fit too. When I push the button it pops out a bit as normal but then I have to get my nails around the end to pull it out because it is VERY tight for approx 1.5 cm. Similarly when pushing it back into the phone the last 1.5 cm is a very tight fit. It has not loosened...

    Post Terrible fingerpring reader

Yes it's rubbish. Worst fingerpront scanner on any phone I've owned. The poor scanner, dropped calls and scrolling issues stop this phone from being 10/10. All very big problems too. I would have kept my Note 8 and not bought this phone had I known.

Thread Note 10 Plus 5G scrolling issues

Hi folks. Love the phone but when I'm scrolling down a weboage or Tumblr my phone will suddenly scroll a long way, or scroll back up the page when I was going down previously. Done it since new. I am running the same apps as on my Note 8 and that phone didn't exhibit this scrolling issue. Any...

    Post Possibly loose SPen

The action of the SPen on my old Note 8 is like a Rolls Royce. You click it, then the pen pops out 1/4 of an inch. Pull it and it comes out with zero friction. Press it back in all the way to the point of clicking and it never comes out accidentally. A joy to use. My Note 10 Plus has a really...

Ringtones and notification tones are super-loud on my N10+ but when watching the YouTube app or video clips in my browser the sound is way lower than my old Note 8. Is this normal?

Post Note 10 Plus bad standby battery drain

So how come my tablet has the exact-same apps installed and used to lose 1% overnight in Airplane Mode on Oreo? I 'updated' to Pie and now it too loses 4 or 5% overnight. I don't understand what's going on under the hood when all the radios are turned off.

Post [Q] Why my fingerprint scanner is so awful?

The fingerprint registration process seems very glitchy too but after having experienced an awful 40% success rate with waking the phone using my fingerprint I deleted all the stored prints and started again. The secret is in storing decent prints so keep doing this until the phone unlocks with...

Post Very bad reception with my note 10+

I went from a Sony Xperia XZ with fabulous reception to my Note 8 which was really poor. After 2 years with the Note 8 my new Note 12 Plus 5G has noticeably better receptlon. Whether it's the best out there is debatable but it's certainly an upgrade on the Note 8 when it comes to reception.

Post Note 10 Plus bad standby battery drain

My brand new Note 10 Plus 5G loses 6% overnight in Airplane Mode. That's unacceptable from a flagship device in 2020. I have other tablets and phones that lose 1 or 2% overnight in Airplane Mode. Heck my old iPhones used to register 0% loss. Either this phone or Android 9 has a nasty standby...

You mean a downgrade to Pie. It's rubbish on the M5.

Ever since the Pie update I hate the open apps cards. They don't switch orientation when you change from landscape to portrait when they used to do in Nougat.

  18. S

Post Android Pie - Any issues

Fair enough if you're happy. For me Pie has brought nothing worthwhile to the table but my standby battery life is worse, it uses more RAM and the app drawer is lousy. I'll be reverting back to Oreo when I have a couple of spare hours to kill. The M5 does stay at 100% longer than any other...

Post Android Pie - Any issues

With Oreo I could keave the tablet in Airplane Mode and it would lose maybe 2% per week. With Pie it loses approx 4% per night in Airplane Mode. I have done everything except a hard reset but to no avail.
  20. S

Post Android Pie - Any issues

How bizarre. I had next to zero standby drain with Oreo. I dislike the app drawer in Pie and also that it consumes more RAM. In short the negatives far outweigh any positives for me. I hate what Pie has done to my M5.

Post Android Pie - Any issues

Hmm. Not my experience and Pie is infamous for standby drain.

Post Android Pie - Any issues

Meh. There is only one significant difference and that is a battery drain when in standby, even if in Airplane Mode. I don't know about you but one of the main things I liked about my M5 was the standby battery life. It used to be phenomenal. Now I lose 6 or more percent every night when I used...

    Thread Android Pie RAM management

Is it an improvement on Oreo or worse? I have read that it's worse on some other phones. I never found the Note 8 on Oreo to have particularly great RAM management to say that it has 6GB of RAM (which at launch was pretty good).

I'm getting great battery life again with the December security patch. It hasn't been this good since around June/July. Thread M5 8.4" lots of play in USB-c port from brand new

Fresh out of the box. The charge cable connects with a satisfying click but there is a TON of wiggle in the port. I can move the cable about 1.5mm in each direction whilt it is fully seated in the port. Will this damage the internal connections over time and should I return it?

    Post Remove blasted update notification

I have got my battery life and stability as good as it is ever going to be, and previous experience with both Android & iOS tells me that at some point an update will come which slows my phone down and/or reduces the battery life. As this is my phone and I own it outright I should be able to...

    Post RAM management

It doesn't reload all the time, it just reloads the same apps with the same frequency that my Xperia XZ did. It must be down to Android ram management rather than the amount of RAM itself.
  44. S

    Post RAM management

That doesn't explain why my 6GB N8 reloads just as badly as my 3GB Xperia XZ. It holds hardly anything in memory before reloading/refreshing. I love the phone but specifically got it for the RAM which in my experience is kinda for show. It doesn't improve anything.

    Post RAM management

It would appear that there is no benefit when using a phone with 6GB versus a phone with 3 or 4GB. What a shame. A massive waste of multitasking possibilities.
  46. S

    Thread RAM management

My only criticism with the N8 is RAM management. I moved from the Xperia XZ with 3GB of RAM and purposefully went for a device with 6GB because of reloads. Yet my N8 reloads the sites and apps in question every bit as much. I read that he N8 had much better RAM management with Nougat, is this so?*

Post Is note 8 worth it in 2018(July)

I beg to differ. Of course a 4000mAh battery will deliver longer runtime, it's a massive battery. My Note 8 has excellent battery life, the best I have had on a phone to date so speak fpr yourself. I get 7-8 hours of SOT every single day.
