Post [OFFICIAL][ROM] Dirty Unicorns 11 [CHEESEBURGER]

From the Forum Rules: 12.4. Developers can issue take down requests (by contacting the Dev Relations team) under the following circumstances: - in-process builds start showing up on forums when the developer is not yet ready to release the work; - cases in which another developer is too...

Post [Guide] Fix for Nexus 6P Bootloop of death | 8/22 - Android O Working

My bootloader is unlocked and I've flashed the 48B boot image and the modified TWRP recovery at least 10 times each but it's still bootlooping between the "can't be checked for corruption" screen and the Google logo every time I try to go to recovery. Am I missing something here or is my phone...

    Post [KERNEL][NOUGAT][OREO] sigma Kernel 9.2 and 10.0 FINAL[OCT 15]

It disabled Magisk for me too, and it was included in my ROM (Tesla ROM for the record). Also, root was still not working even after reinstalling Magisk 12.0, even though Magisk Manager indicated root was active.

    Post [ROM][7.1.2][UNOFFICAL][FINAL] Dirty Unicorns 11.7.2 Andr68RUS Edition [VoLTE/Dolby]

Yeah it just now dawned on me that he was referring to the Substratum app in the Play Store. For a second when I saw that other guy ask if OMS would be available I thought this unofficial build was missing the OMS commits. I should've known better :p

    Post Hypothetical question.....

You know, of course, that "Senior Member" is a meaningless title since you only have to post 100 comments to "earn" it :p In any case, many people don't understand how the hardware works, they only barely know how to unlock the bootloader on a Nexus and flash TWRP and a custom ROM. By the time...

    Post Rule 12 - A New beginning

This exactly. What about when the official build is still under development and some thanks whore jumps the gun, compiles an unofficial build based on the unfinished source code and then users flash it, experience serious problems (perhaps even serious damage to their device) and then blame the...

Post What should XDA's policy be regarding sharing of code?

In the United States people are legally allowed to speak their minds and it's a Constitutional protection, but as a private site XDA is not bound to the Constitution. Therefore you can, for example, rightly ban users who engage in profanity, hate speech, sexual harassment and other abuses of...

    Post [LOS][OMS] ][HTC 10] rESURRECTION rEMIX N [5.8.2][7.1.1] uNOFFICIAL [ Nightly Mar 19]

Did either of you put any work into developing this ROM? Is it the product of your hard work and all-nighters being made available free of charge without even a donate link? Why is it so hard to respect the wishes of those who put in the effort to develop this custom ROM...

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][6.0.1] Cypher [H811]

You guys keep opening threads for all these different devices and the mods keep closing them due to authorship and commit history being removed. When are you guys going to learn? Edit: at least you're not asking your users to fix mobile data for you this time

As long as authorship is maintained and credit is given, no wrong has been committed. Still, it might have been more considerate to call this an unofficial Tipsy build rather than making it look like something entirely original by rebranding it as LenoxOS.

  27. skynet11

    Post Let's Talk Root!

That's a distinct possibility. We might indeed never have root access, especially if all the developers who find exploits sell them out to Samsung, Verizon or some security corporation instead of releasing them to the public. Developing these exploits for public use is largely a thankless job...
  28. skynet11

    Post Let's Talk Root!

Of course the root method for the Nexus 6 isn't going to work on the Galaxy Note 4. Samsung definitely alters the source code in making its TouchWiz skins and at Verizon's bidding they build extra security in for the express purpose of making root access as hard as possible to achieve.
  29. skynet11

    Post Let's Talk Root!

Incidentally, much more money can be made selling these exploits to corporations (especially security corporations) than by releasing root to the public (even when there's a bounty estimated at $16K). There could have been dozens of root methods already discovered for the Verizon Galaxy Note 4...
  30. skynet11

    Post Let's Talk Root!

Sure, it might benefit the users for a few days, but I'm thinking about the developer's point of view. Say they release an exploit tomorrow only to have it negated shortly thereafter by the Lollipop OTA. That might earn part of the bounty (at least from those who actually honor their pledges)...
  31. skynet11

    Post Let's Talk Root!

There would seem to be little point in releasing a root exploit now, since the Lollipop update is looming in which such an exploit would probably be patched.

Post Bye Bye Note 4, hello Nexus 6

The difference might not manifest itself immediately, but more likely after months of use. For example, screen burn-in could develop more quickly in a previous-generation display, or a tint could develop gradually.

Post Bye Bye Note 4, hello Nexus 6

I wanted the S-pen and the SAMOLED display that's a generation ahead of the Nexus 6 (Motorola uses older SAMOLED technology it buys from Samsung)
  35. skynet11

Post Root by March 1. Over/Under Poll

I knew it probably wasn't rooted when I got it, but I had to have the S-pen and the SAMOLED display that's a generation ahead of the Nexus 6. For years I've said the Galaxy Note might be the one device I might be content with leaving on stock.
