Yeah, I followed that thread I posted earlier to return to pure stock MJE via Odin, then re-rooted with Kingo 1.6, then set SuperSU as stated before, and everything went great for me when doing the OTA at that point,

I just wanted to report back and say everything went great and I am now on NC4 with root! Yay! Just for the record, in SuperSU I had set SuperSU to DISABLED, then set the Survival Mode to ON, then set default action to DENY. Not sure if that matters, but that's what I had and it worked...

I've read in a couple places of people having success taking the the NC4 OTA on their stock rooted device with SU Survival Mode on and being able to keep root after the update. I was just wondering if any has tried that and if they were successful or not, thanks!

As you seem to have figured out, the more research you do, the more likely you are to succeed at stuff like this. At least you were able to recover it. That being said, KingoApp is definitely the best/easiest way to root this phone.

Haha...I'm glad I'm not the only one that it takes multiple times for it to work sometimes. I think some brands of terminals are better at handling it than others. It does always work for me, too, just sometimes it takes three taps for the terminal to accept it.

WatchON has been great for me. I've been able to fully control every IR device I've come in contact with (including a 17-year-old DVD player). Can't beat it for free.

Sounds like you might have some gunk in the pen tip area. The system recognizes contact by reading the amount of pressure applied to the tip, so if something is obstructing the natural movement of the tip, that could lead to inaccurate pressure readings. I'd try using the included tip removal...

Just updated successfully and root was preserved with selecting OTA Survival. I was a little worried when I saw the big red circle on the "update complete" message...I guess in Verizon land, red is always good, haha.

The more I read from Kingo and the more I look into this issue, the more I think that they are not doing anything shady. Their app. is advertised for rooting, unlocking, etc., TONS of different devices. Some devices I know need to have certain codes created from that specific device's...

SuperSU has an option built in to remove the app and binaries from the system partition which allows you to re-install it right from the Play Store...is there some advantage to having it as a system app over just installed from the Play Store?

Ahh, gotcha. I've never experienced any problems with the screen dimming when I'm using it (even playing games). But I like to use Smart Stay (works great for me) and I like my brightness at 100% all the time, so it's a little different scenario, I guess.

Yeah, I didn't notice the ink effect on my Note 2 until like 10 months after using it I happened to unlock the screen with the S-Pen...Which is very rare because the second you take the S-Pen out the screen auto-unlocks, haha. I thought it was a cool effect though, just kind of poorly implemented.

WatchON is kind of useful, I think. I used to get the FC warnings a lot at the beginning, but after running the app and setting it up and adding my TV to the remote devices, I haven't had a problem since.

Just as a reminder...the stock Samsung voices are terrible, but through the Samsung TTS you can download "High Quality" voices that actually sound pretty good.

To get this to happen for mine, I had to plug it in, it installed some stuff, then I had to remove it and plug it back in, then the "CD Drive (VERIZON)..." or whatever showed up that had the installer files in there...Thanks for the heads up.
