A DNS over TLS connection is encrypted in the same way HTTPS is. It can also sometimes be quicker than the default DNS (correct me if I'm wrong about this). However, airports and some other places do not allow external DNS, forcing you to turn it off.

Motorola locked the ability to incorporate as internal storage because even the best SD cards have trouble with it, and it randomly frying would ruin you and your phone.

I've got nothing. If the device wasn't showing up, you would have to install the device drivers from Motorola. Contact Fi, Motorola or both. Fi tends to have good customer support (but if we can't figure it out, then I'm not sure Fi will be able to either).

Adb issue was fixed in most recent update. You still need to download device drivers.
