You just need to flash a Treble enabled ROM, like LineageOS, to get Treble support on your phone.
Yes, it's possible to flash the official GSI, but probably you'll encounter a lot of bugs.
You can't recreate something that never existed.
The /cache partition is not present on AB devices.

I replied your PM, but could you please tell me which release date you were using before updating?
That problem already happenned with other people, you can updated the ROM flashing with TWRP without a problem.
You came from which version?
You have to use blankflash to enter bootloader and flash gpt.bin from the stock rom, after that you'll be able to boot normally.
I put the Retail link on the OP, I think you can flash only modem.
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2

DESCRIPTION
Retail ROM of Android Pie (version number PPW29.69-26) for Moto X4
REQUIREMENTS...
Need root for it, just download any version compatible with wide lens and put the package name on this line inside build.prop:
vendor.camera.aux.packagelist2
Hello Arnova8G2
First of all, thank you for your work on modding the app, it's great and improved a lot the quality of pictures taken from my phone.
I'm having a problem with mods based on GCam 6 (I tested all of your versions and some from other modders, same problem), the app crashes when I...
Wireless sound system only on retail rom, non-Fi.
Yes, with Moto Camera, I don't know if there's any GCam Mod that works wide angle with LOS15.1, I didn't test.
Yes, there's Moto Gestures, only long press to lock the phone isn't implemented.
Is it possible to change the color profile on this rom?
I only managed to change on LOS16 under LiveDisplay feature, my screen have satured colors and I like to use sRGB.
It happened here with one LOS16 build, but it was fixed.
You can try that, install stock, boot twrp, backup your efs partition, do the steps to install the custom ROM, if you still don't have network signal, restore the efs backup.
Add this line on the build.prop and perhaps you'll be able to use the wide angle.
camera.aux.packagelist2=com.motorola.ccc,com.google.android.GoogleCameraWide,com.google.android.GoogleCameraTele
Wrong, moto X4 uses File Based Encryption, it's because of that the phone don't have the option to format SD as internal storage, Pie supports adoptable storage with FBE, but it wasn't working well on LOS16.
Did you flash TWRP after rom flash? Because LOS overwrites the previous recovery, when you flash, you need to select LineageOS zip and add twrp zip to the queue.
The variant won't change even if you flash a ROM firm another variant, I have XT1900-6 retbr, Android One is only provided for XT1900-1 retus, I flashed Android One here and the software channel remained retbr.
XT1900-7 is from Europe if I'm not wrong.
Yes, it's possible, you just can't...
Go to Havoc Settings>Gestures>Pie Control and disable it.
Don't know, here works fine, I'm using the latest build (27/10) with custom installation from Super GApps package.
I'm using this rom on my phone, but I can't find where I change my color profile, there's no options at Settings>Screen>Colors.
And I'm not able to use my wide angle lens, it's rom related or vendor related? How can I know? (it was working on AOSP)
I think you'll need to wipe your data...
When I was using the unnoficial version, the procedure to install an update was:
-Dirty flash ROM with twrp
-Reboot recovery
-Flash GApps and Magisk, if you want
-Wipe Dalvik
-Reboot system.
This is not an app problem, it's about ROM implementation of something that I'm trying to figure out, because LineageOS have the feature and the Pie AOSP had it too. Resolution and scale have nothing to do with what I'm talking about...
I tried copying some lines regarding the camera from...
