So P added band 2? If that's the case...that's one more band that my A1 now picks up. My phone only used to pick up on band 4.

I hope they fix it. That's pretty weak sauce if they don't. Made a functional device into basically a paperweight.

I didn't "force" my update. It was there when I booted up and my phone prompting me that there is an update. I hope they fix this and add band 4 back. Otherwise...the phone is pretty useless to me.

I received the P update yesterday. Installed and everything seems to run just fine...but I get no 4G now...only 2G. Anyone else have this issue?

I haven't had too many issues with my A1...up until a few weeks ago. Phone would not connect to Android Auto and data kept dropping. A resetting the phone seems to have fixed those issues. Regarding the A2...why would it be released to soon? The A1 was released in September 2017. I'm guessing...

I've been to the Mission Valley area and I get 4G. Mine has a red sticker on the box that said "Global Version". Bought mine from Aliexpress. I don't think you can unlock band 2. The Global Version has band 4...which gets me 4G pretty much everywhere I've gone.

I was seeing the same thing. Connectivity would be gone for several minutes. There would be nothing in areas I would normally see 4G. I did a factory reset a few days ago...and so far...it's working. The reset also seems to have fixed some issues I was having with Android Auto.

I did a reset on the phone. So far it's been working. Phone has been running kind of strange in general. The factory reset seems to have made a difference. Thanks for the reply.

Anyone have problems with Android Auto? It worked fine for a while, but in the past few weeks...it's been a real hit or miss. It basically crashes the AA in my GTI. The AA screen will lock up and turn black if I unplug it. It works perfectly fine my older phone.

I bought my device through a vendor on Aliexpress. I'm in Southern California and so far the B4 4G coverage has been pretty good for me. I'll sometimes see 3G if I go inside a building. Buying this device can be hit or miss if you're not in the part of the world that it's designed for. Hope...

My manual also does not list the B4 band...but my phone has it. The box my phone came has a small red sticker on the side that says "Global Version".

I use isopropyl alcohol on a clean cloth. Seems to work for me.

I have 8.0, but no January update. I think I'll just wait and not try to force it. My phone works fine.

I've got the same case. Paid $2 shipped on eBay. This case retains the slim feel of the phone...not like you're picking up a brick.

I've had the same issue also. Like you...I took it off and tossed it I the garbage. I then tried the ones that are a bit short at the edges. All those ones did was attract dust and lint along the edges.. I tried another one with the black borders...that went in the trash too. I'm using my A1...

November update left a lag when unlocking my phone with the fingerprint scanner. I used to be fairly instant. Now there is a slight delay.

I'll get two days with light use. Short phone calls, some social media use, and Youtube while on the can. Even with heavy use (meaning lots of web browsing)...I'll still get more than 24 hours from the battery.

Unless there are specific parts that are made in India...they are the same parts in the Chinese made versions...just shipped to and assembled in India.

Happened to me yesterday. Received a notification and tried to wake up the phone...no display. Nav buttons lit up and I can hear sounds coming from the phone. Forced a restart and the display came back. So far...it's only happened one time.

I find the quote hard to believe. Unless there is some kind of proof from a reliable source(like a teardown of both devices)...I'd take it as pure speculation. I would think that the parts are shipped from China to India and assembled there.

I'm about 30 mins north of Los Angeles and my LTE speeds are up and down. I was in the West LA area yesterday and I was seeing 22Mbps. Locally I'll see less than 1Mbps, to 12, to 22Mbps in the late evening.

With the camera protruding past the body of the phone...it'll be more likely that it will scratch. Regardless of how much or how long I choose keep my phone...I'll always use a slim case of some kind. Your phone will probably be the most handled piece of equipment you own. It goes everywhere...

I picked up this case from eBay. It fits like a glove and the camera does not touch when put down on a flat surface. It also makes picking up the phone easier. I've found the phone hard to pick up sometimes...and my hands aren't even that big...

Is anybody having issues with sending text messages (your standard text message) with WiFi on? Not over WiFi, but just with WiFi on. I tried the default messaging app and the Google one. They both work the same. For me to get a text message out, I have to turn off WiFi. :rolleyes:
