    Thread English/British accent

Now Google Home has officially launched in the UK, anyone aware of a way to get hack a US Google Home to become a UK model, or at least just a UK accent? I know it could be done with the Amazon Echo, before it launched over here, so assumed something similar would happen with Google Home too -...

This exact same thing happened to me. I couldn't even be bothered with Sony customer services, I knew what they'd say, so I just claimed on my phone insurance and took the £75 excess hit.

Post Broken/cracked display - Sony refuses the warranty, 2nd Xperia Z2 = softbrick

I had a similar situation - my previous Xperia Z was a tank (in a good way), put it in my pocket, sat on it (lightly), dropped it, everything, barely a scratch let alone a cracked screen after 18 months. After a couple of months with the Z2, I thought I was being way more delicate with it, and...

I've updated to this now, but my camera seems stuck at the 16:9 3920 × 2204 resolution - I can't find how to switch it back to the 13MP 4:3 format... anyone else had this? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Apologies if it's already been mentioned, but after searching, all my searches...

My 4G/LTE version formatted my 64GB card up to 64GB perfectly fine. Did you get the tablet to format it itself, or just stick it in straight from the packet?

    Post 4.2.2 back to 4.1.2

I tried going back to 4.1.2 from 4.2.2 due to bluetooth not working with my car on 4.2.2, but after reflashing it just sat in a reboot loop. How did you downgrade to 4.1.2?

Post [Q] Bluetooth connection time on 4.2.2

My BMW simply won't pair with my XZ since updating to 4.2.2 - was working fine before on 4.1.2, but when I try to pair now, they recognise eachother, and I enter a code on the car to be verified on the phone, but after I enter the code on the phone, it all just freezes. The car sits there saying...

Post Android 4.2.2 Update - Impressions & Reviews!

Can't pair my XZ to my car bluetooth system since upgrading to 4.2.2 - both recognise eachother, car asks for a PIN which I have to confirm on the phone, but after doing that nothing happens. Also some apps (BeehiveIM being one) are force closing as soon as it's run. I could clear the app's...

Mediaserver is the background process which scans your media - music, photos, videos - and extracts EXIF information, ID3 tags, thumbnails, etc, and adds it all to the libraries. Once it's finished scanning and processing everything, it shouldn't need to run much in the future, unless you add a...

Here's mine, normal usage; wifi and bluetooth on all the time, Latitude updating, two email accounts polling every 15 mins. There was a very brief time on charge (2 mins) when I copied files onto it via my laptop. 32 hours, 15% left, so it would have gone for another few hours I reckon. FYI...

Got my XZ a few days ago, and the battery life has got better since the start - perhaps the battery being conditioned or something? Post [IMAGE] Galaxy S4 Product Image revealed. Real or fake?

Actually, the iPhone 4 (with glass back) always fared pretty well against many other phones, in the dreaded drop-test, so it's not as clear cut as that. Funny though, that the iPhone went from a metal back in the first one, to a plastic back in the 3G, then glass in the 4, now metal in the 5...

Post **Ultimate GS3 sudden death thread**

Short of physically replacing something, firmware updates are the only other option Samsung have, so: a) given you can fix (workaround) some hardware issues via software (firmware) and microcode updates b) would you rather your phone be fixed by sending it off for 2 weeks to have hardware...
  32. T

Post **Ultimate GS3 sudden death thread**

Most microcode updates are done on bootup - if you watch a Linux startup process, you can see these checks happen. No, it's still speculation.

Post **Ultimate GS3 sudden death thread**

I realise that, but you said "its broken or not broken" - I was merely pointing out it's not quite as simple as that. IF this is the problem (we're only speculating still), then theoretically Samsung could fix the wear problem, mark the bad sectors as bad properly, and the problem shouldn't...
  35. T

Post **Ultimate GS3 sudden death thread**

Not quite - if the wear levelling algorithm is poor, and is wearing out sectors unevenly, they may be dying early, and perhaps they're not getting marked as bad, which is why we're occasionally getting crashes or freezes, and the system attempts to write/read from bad sectors. It could be fixed...

Well, if ELLA is supposed to prevent the 'sudden death', it's not helped my freezing problems, which I suspect are a build-up to a sudden death soon. Still freezing, either when I try to unlock it, or when it's asleep.

I don't know if it's just a quirk of my phone, or whether it's related to this at all (my phone, bought in June, HW ver 1.100, is going through a period of random lockups and reboots, so I think it's on the way out), but I noticed the other day that when it's plugged in and charging off the...
