I very happily (at the time) flashed "with" zimage using MO. First time is always exciting, huh? And, I flashed it on top of the LD3 that still had the leaked kernel. Now, I am getting justy a wee bit nervous. So, since I have no idea how to mod a kernel, which kernel is having the most success...

I installed Ubuntu and WxHex for editing. I pulled zimage and modem, then flashed them using Mobile Odin. So far, so good. Thanks for the assistance. And thanks again to Entropy512.

I only have Windows. I have read that this can be a very "iffy" thing going this route, but I have never even been on a Linux system. Will I be alright staying with Windows?

After flashing the stock J1, Wi-Fi works just fine.

Got it rooted now and have Wi-Fi. I flashed codeworkx kernel, super-one-click rooted, then flashed the stock J1 kernel. And, I no longer have the "yellow triangle" at boot. Android Version: 2.3.5 Baseband Version: I777UCKJ2 Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7 Build Number: GINGERBREAD.UCKJ2
