    Post [ROM][SM-T510][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 17.1 for Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019)

Okay, thanks. So apparently it wasn't something that I did. Thankfully I knew about using TWRP from my old days.

BTW, I don't want to sound ungrateful. Despite the (self-induced?) problem that I had installing the ROM, I'm grateful to @Magendanz for providing it.

    Post [ROM][SM-T510][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 17.1 for Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019)

After I used an Uninstaller to uninstall a core application, I got into a boot loop. I was able to do the Odin flash procedure again, so I was able to recover. But since TWRP automatically started after three loops, it occurred to me that it would have been a lot easier to recover if I had...

    Post [ROM][SM-T510][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 17.1 for Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019)

Okay, thanks to a post by Zippy Dufus I realized that I was in a boot loop. (That is, TWRP didn't auto-start. A race condition somewhere? Does having an external SD card affect this?) So then I had to read about how to "hard" reset a T510. Vol Up + Pwr got me into TWRP. But it's been a long...

    Post [ROM][SM-T510][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 17.1 for Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019)

Am unable to get Odin to flash the ROM. Update: Problem solved. (Doncha hate when this happens? I guess running thru the steps in a forum gets one thinking.) My solution below. ------------------------------------ After starting the process (running through the list of partitions), Odin gives...

No, I haven't had time to play with rooting lately. I still would like to root it tho.

Post How to Root Nuu R1 (R5001LA) ?

Thanks. I did see SP Flash Tools mentioned and I did take a look at it. While I've rooted before, I'm trying to get my head around a Scatter File. Everything I've read so far - well, almost everything - says that I need TWRP to get Magisk installed. But if you think it can be done via SP Flash...

Post How to Root Nuu R1 (R5001LA) ?

I found a website called unofficialtwrp.com. It has a TWRP for the MediaTek 6739, running Oreo 8.1, with 16/2 GB. That's exactly what the Nuu Mobile R1 has. So, hopeful that this would allow me to root my R1, I tried it. (Short version: Didn't work.) I already had ADB installed and could talk...

Post How to Root Nuu R1 (R5001LA) ?

I contacted Nuu Mobile Support and they were kind to send me the MediaTek USB drivers for the R1. It was a two step process to get the driver installed for ADB. But now I have access to the R1 via ADB. I read here on the forums that I can boot TWRP via fastboot, and not risk ruining/corrupting...

Post How to Root Nuu R1 (R5001LA) ?

More data for TWRP'ing So, I see that one needs an image of the OEM ROM to compile TWRP. I found two sites on the web that claim to have the ROM. (Before the R1 was officially released.) Sounds sketchy. Will try to get an image from Tech Support. In the meantime, I found that the bootloader...

Thread How to Root Nuu R1 (R5001LA) ?

I just bought a Nuu R1 Rugged Phone. It has Oreo 8.1.0 on it. It is an "unlocked" phone. But I don't know if unlocked refers to the phone carrier or to the boot loader. (I'm thinking phone carrier.) The last I rooted my tablets was Android 5, which required using a custom script that a dev...

    Post [CAT S41] Root + recovery ?

Someone asked CAT on Twitter if CAT would be willing to sell a Rooted S41 for, like, $30 more, without warranty coverage for bricked phones. (No loss to CAT that way. A win-win since they would make money.) CAT said Not Interested.

    Post ZenPad S Root achieved

I'm still running 4.7.1 rooted. (Waiting on someone to write up - or make a video of - a foolproof step by step method to upgrade before I try.) I started by pruning the ASUS image .zip file, removing apps that I didn't want. Then I used Link2sd to freeze other apks. And DisableServices to kill...

Please, where is the "mirror button"? The best I can find is a setting under More to play the screen on the Roku. My Roku shows up, I get the start of a connection on the TV, but my tablet screen never shows up after the gas gauge stalls about a third of the way.

Post Asus ZenPad S Marshmallow update

Using the free app DisableService, I have 3 services in Splendid disabled, 1 in SplendidCommandAgent., and all services in Tru2Life. (In fact, I have T2L frozen too.) That stopped brightness fluctuation for me. (Old LP.)

Post Asus ZenPad S Marshmallow update

I use a free app called DisableService for this kind of tweak. I don't recall right now which system service it is, but it's an Asus app and, IIRC, I have disabled double-tap in the past. Update: It's called DoubleTapService under SystemUI. And you have to reboot for disable to take effect...

Post Asus ZenPad S Marshmallow update

I've noticed that too. I suspect that it's Asus's "double tap the screen to wake" feature. (My Nook HD+ doesn't have that feaure, and with Greenify, my battery details shows a flat line (no discharge) when my Nook is not in use.)

Post Asus ZenPad S Marshmallow update

Wait. You said you powered it down and then later "booted up." So the unit was off, as opposed to sleeping? If so, then the problem isn't related to the OS, 'cause the OS isn't operating.. It's your battery. It's self-discharging too fast.

One way transform? Since it seems like the cwm tether trick doesn't work with the MM update, then updating is a one way operation? That is, if you update to MM, there's no going back? (Would a Factory Reset take you back to the OEM LP or the newly installed MM?)

Looking at this from a high level block diagram perspective, I'm guessing that because the MM update has to be installed in a special way, it is modifying partitions in a major way, breaking things for us.

I didn't know it did that. But there is a service called com.intel.thermal. I figure that that service throttles back the CPU. But perhaps it also throttles screen brightness? It can be disabled with the free app Disable Service.

I find that time is mostly a function of screen brightness. I'm rooted and GSM Battery shows a fairly flat line when my tablet is off. I use my C in an airplane for a moving map. When on at full bright, I get just over 4 hours. It will easily make 6 hours with the screen at half bright.
