I just want to backup, send to repair than restore. Is it possible? Or just extract data from backup. I wont use whole guide eventually. But it is the best way to save data i found yet if I am not wrong about it.

I have had both of them. xperia has better hw overall with nexus like UI experience, is very fast and has lollipop on the bord. On the other hand s3 has much better display and in many situations better camera. I had no problem with xperia all day but at night is amoled much better to use.

HW is definitely not weaker than S3.

As I found out there in last days, it's about existing system partition. Once it's smaller than new OS, you need to re-partition and this is what wipe all data (similar to windows). Maybe final official FW will be smaller and there will be no must re-partitioning/wiping data :)
