Made a noticeable difference for me. This was a frequent issue for me, but after a couple of days with these build.prop settings, it has definitely improved, although the problem has not been completely nixed, these settings are a definite improvement. The knock-on taps work the first time...

Until you get the updated 4.4.2 version, you can achieve the same result using Xposed framework + GravityBox module. Or, there is the Quick boot app in the Play Store. QuickBoot does not have the same UX as the mod, but Xposed + GravityBox is the same UX. sent from my hammerhead-442
