yes works! you can also set it to disable with a shake. Via a couple of apps. E-ROBOT and Secure Setting (paid version) takes some fiddling but it works for me,better than blindly navigating the settings

This sounds like a firmware issue. Did you look around for the proper firmwares to flash.. remember don't flash firmwares with an unlocked bootloader. Flash before , then unlock then root. Flashing firmwares on a unlocked bootloader bricked our Sony play. I have since relocked the bootloader...
