Post Notification bar auto hiding since update

I actually tried half you advice, and just cleared the cache for the Home app. Just to save me the hassle of resetting up my home pages (lazy). Turns out that it was just something in the cache that screwed it up! Completely forgot to even consider that as an option until your post. So thank...

Thread Notification bar auto hiding since update

This morning, my phone updated to 39.2.A.0.417, and since then, I've noticed that when on the home screen (and only the home screen I believe) the notification bar at the top seems to auto hide. This was not something it was previously set to, and I'm not even aware of a setting anywhere that...

Truecall can do this as well. Needs a data connection for real-time identifying of incoming calls, but that's to be expected :)

Post Block internet access for apps without using another app?!?

Literally the only features I'm aware of that would mean not using another app would be to disable data /WiFi, or enter flight mode. But obviously, that's system wide, and not app specific. Why would you like to do this without another app?

Post Android stock on galaxy s6 ?

Samsung have become (have they ever?) somewhat open source unfriendly. Being a big competitor against Apple may have something to do with it (don't want them stealing ideas or anything ?). But yes, as the others said, because of so much proprietary shizzle under the hood, a lot of hardware...

Post Fast charging not working (not cable or charger)

It depends on 3 things. The phone, the charger and the connection (th e cable). So yes, the cable is a crucial factor in utilising Fast Charge :) Think of it as having a fast car, a driver comfortable with pushing the car to the limits, and the road being the cable. If the road isn't build for...

Sadly, no. From what research I have done, the Knox bit is basically an e-fuse in the CPU. Once it's gone it's gone. Only way to "restore" it is with a new phone.

You don't actually have to be using you phone for rain to be a problem ;) some of us don't drive and have to walk a lot. If an unexpected storm appears, you can get incredibly wet!! The phone that got damaged that I mentioned, was in my pocket. Walking home from work. It is only about 10-15 to...

Post The solution for lack of Micro SD, removable battery, small batter, water proof!

Regarding the waterproof thing, I'm guessing no one uses their phones outside? Where it rains? I've lost the use of a phone by getting caught out in the rain before. I'm not saying all phones have to be waterproof, but as the technologies are improving, it wouldn't hurt to see it become more...

No idea about the first part, to be honest. We'll have to see. As the CSC is a part of the firmware, it will change it. So if you flash BTU firmware, you'll get BTU OTA's. You can use Smart Switch to return to the very same version (CSC) you purchased it will though if at any point you wanted...

The main perk of unbranded firmware is the lack of bloatware. I was informed earlier, probably in this thread I think, that for some reason, they often tend to be among the last releases. American T-Mobile S6's got 5.1.1 first for example :-/

You know what? I've just realised it's on mine too :-p I had to take my protective case off, and use a torch to be able to see it, but it's there. Damn.. Haha. Never thought to look. At least it's out in the open for all to know (including recovering from potential partition screw ups). Cheers!!

Post Wireless charging and times needed to place on charger to work

The charger I have has two LEDs. A red one for "power connected" and a blue one for "charging device". Sadly, the blue one lights up even when my phone is in its "charging-charging paused-charging-charging paused" mood. If you guys are having trouble too, at least I know it's not my pad :)

A few weeks back I bought a wireless charger off eBay for about £10 (I really didn't want to pay over £40 for the official one if I wasn't going to use it much), and I'm sure I've read something somewhere about someone saying the S6 doesn't always charge properly on the first placement on the...

Post (How to) Run your S6 in 1080 mode

For the size of the screen, the difference is negligible ;) Negligible screen quality over negligible ram space. Post Preparing for 5.1.1

Until it comes out, I don't think anyone will have a definitive answer. Flashing stock ROMs via Odin will preserve the Knox status, but, as it overwrites the system partition, root will be lost. No two ways about it. The only way I can imagine updating to 5.1.1 and having root, will be in hoping...

Network locking is never affected by firmware flashing. Network locks are protected using a completely different part of the phone. Never got around to seeing how phones do it. But yeah, flashing a different "brand" of firmware only changes bloat and bug fixes (assuming different versions).

If you flash a stock ROM with Odin, you won't need to worry about unrooting first, as flashing will do that for you. Yup! Only things that were installed as root. So SuperSU was confused it had no binary etc. But don't take it as gospel. Wouldn't want people to assume it will always happen. Or if a setting in Odin got ticked and formatted user data. Always be careful. Always! Backups are sacred ;)

That's correct for both. Stock images are trusted by the trusted boot module that determines whether to trip Knox or not. And as the images do not contain a user data image, user data is retained. Still, it wouldn't hurt to backup your important stuff anyway. I did this the other week, and...

Post [Q] How to access touchwiz weather app when not using touchwiz launcher?

It's not quite the same I don't think. In TW, it fills the whole row and has the clock separate on the left. Unfortunately, I agree with the other two. As far as I am aware, in the 2 years or so I've used TW devices, there's no way to do it. Flashing stock firmware is fine. It is (if I'm remembering correctly) the flashing and booting of unofficial, unsigned images (especially the kernel) that triggers the Knox bit.
