My experience with the Jan 25 2015 build is almost exactly as you described. I have gone back to CM11 for now.

I'm using the latest nightly, Jan 11 2015 and Franco Kernel .398. My maguro is running great. Without the Franco Kernel it is sluggish. This combination is working very well for me. I am looking forward to CM12 nightlies.

The only thing I did was to clear data on Google Services Framework. I had to do it many times, but it finally worked.

I am getting slow speeds with my GN on Tmobile. After reading your post I called Tmobile and told them of my speed issues. They saw that I have a VERY old sim card and they have arranged for me to get a free replacement sim card also. Hopefully we will both be getting higher speeds tomorrow.
