You don't lose data by flashing a OTA over your current OOS ROM. But losing root is normal. After first boot just reboot back to bootloader flash back codework's twrp (still many thanks for that man) and then flash magisk, takes less than 5 min total.

That popup has been added since nougat iirc, it's annoying af but never liked for a way to remove it since I don't use GPS that often. But anyways now I have xposed on my OnePlus 5t running Android 8.1 so if you had a working module that you know you can try.

The said options are just customization options that can be added anytime on any ROM. I swapped the backbutton and the recent app button through adb shell with a simple command given to the setting app so they can do it too by adding the option in the setting menu, none of the options mentioned...

It's nothing about tweaking, all the stuff I mentioned works fine on the official OnePlus One ROM. Can't understand why they can't do the same with this one. And I'm not going to change launcher because I've been using trebuchet for more than 4 years already and I'm fine how it works.

Yes, please if it's not too much bother. I'm very picky about ROMs. Been using COS/LOS for my OPO for years already and was waiting to replace Oxygen with LOS, but official builds seem very slow at the current state. Just wanted to know something more and the stability. Grazie ;)

There is no such thing, you would have to compile your own if you want that feature. I personally use only the linux terminal applications so I didn't dig much into the kernel part. You would need headers and the dongle drivers.

Official Oxygen OS wasn't updated in a year if I remember correctly. If you liked COS you should go with LineageOS. No need to root again after OTA (only BusyBox will need to be installed again). build.prop gets overwritten every time so yes you would have to edit it after updating.
