Actually I think I found the fix. When manually adding a network, you have to scroll down to advanced settings and choose "yes" for hidden network. It's connecting now for me :)

Hi I'm getting a "new" labeled v40 from ebay. I wanted to see if it is really brand new. Is there a way to check this in the service menu or using some other method? I guess I'd be looking for a power cycle count or something related to that? Thanks -J

I need to enable OEM unlock but my G7 is currently pretty much in a useless state. The only thing it does now is boot into fastboot and go into recovery to do factory reset. I tried booting off other images, including extracted laf.img from kdz but I get the "check failed" error. Cannot go into...

Actually I just noticed something: Factory reset might not be working because as soon as I click the power button to choose "Yes" to confirm wipe, it right away shows the "check failed" message. I just now tried using the oldest KDZ available in the LGFirmware website, with LGUP, and tried...

I am able to flash stock KDZ using LG UP as well as factory reset with the volume/power key combo, but when I boot up I'm still presented with the "failed routine check" message. Any thoughts?

actually mine is now stuck with the "failed routine check" message. I had locked the bootloader before being able to have a working ROM .. i think the device is gone now :/

Use LG Bridge and "Update error recovery" under Software Update tab.

Try using LG Bridge to restore your phone using "Update error recovery" link under the Software Update tab. First though you do have to get into download mode for this to work. Hold down your volume up button while the phone is plugged into your PC via usb cable.

So then why the need to flash EM? Why can't I just flash Lineage on top of the US Pie fw? I'm just curious that's all. Trying to learn. What commands are you using to flash the twrp? I think you have to flash boot a and b partitions, and not the recovery partition.

I mean what's the point of flashing EM fw if the Lineage fw is getting flashed on top of it and over writing it? Is there something from the EM fw that resides on the phone even after Lineage is flashed? For the TWRP there is the june version we're supposed to use so i believe its like this...
