Ordered a new battery from eBay for $14.90 and got it in two days. Now I'm back up and running with a properly working phone.

My battery finally crapped out, it won't charge or turn on. I disassembled the phone and took the battery out, it was at 3.84v, so hopefully just too low to charge. Time to finally order a new one. At least my Thunderbolt still works well in the mean time.

Lately it's been losing home screen icons and a couple settings even when I manually shut the phone down. Ironically yesterday when it died suddenly some previously missing icons I had yet to restore reappeared.

You are very welcome. Also make sure your model and software version matches the update file's model and "from" software version number to avoid any problems. For example make sure you are using a QMV7A and not a QMV7B and your software version is JBD25A if you wanted to use the small update...

I have the KitKat update file if anyone still needs it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to grab the incremental update file before it installed. I found it is downloaded to just /cache.

Make sure you do it in one quick movement down and back up or it won't make a selection.

Not that this will help you, but I just figured out my recent problem was the cheap HDMI cable I was using. One of my laptops wasn't displaying using the same cable and I messed with it and it started working.

Yep, same speeds here. It really sucks for trying to stream Plex, etc. LTE is pretty much fine, not that that matters much. I've tried optimization both enabled and disabled and it makes no difference.

The M8 definitely supports MHL, it's even listed in the documentation. Hopefully that will work for you. This one I got from Newegg was only $6, so I figured whatever if it doesn't work.

I finally had a chance to try mine again. I'm getting the same thing as you, says it's outputting a signal, and flickers a few pixels/lines as though an image is going to come up but just stays a black screen. I know mine works though because I've gotten it to display a couple times in the past...

A little off recent topics, but does anyone else have terribly slow WiFi transfer speeds? I can never get more than 300-500kb/sec, both internet and local file transfers. Its been this way from day one. I'm on 802.11n and its not signal strength/quality related. My M8 and all other devices are fine.

I am on the latest update. I got mine April 26 if I remember correctly. There was an OTA available immediately and I downloaded and installed that day.

I don't have Plex Pass and I can cast from my Android app. I do have MyPlex, but that's free. It's just registering on the site basically. Friends and family can even cast my Plex server remotely.

802.11n 300 and WPA2. This is the only device that is that slow, my wife's and my HTC M8's are fine, as are other tablets and computers. Verizon also locked out standalone GPS unless you use VZ Navigator, it only uses the mobile network for location services in any app other than that.

Mine will not transfer faster than 5 Mbit on WLAN, internet or local network, making Netflix and Plex use very frustrating sometimes. It also gets very slow to respond scrolling and to touch often.
