Further playing has found me the answer. Under Settings> Account Sync the Auto Sync had somehow been turned off. This overrides the individual application settings. By fixing this I was able to Sync the Weather

Hmmm… Getting the Aria clipped is not looking like it is going to be easy. The one shop who was happy to talk about root breaking the phone was talking about a 3 hour process and hadn’t heard of an XTC Clip. So sounds like he was fishing without really knowing what I required.

O.K. I think I have it now. So you used to be able to mount the system partition on the phone with S-OFF, the change they made in HBOOT 1.02.000 is what stops it. Thus Universal doesn’t work, and you can’t play on the system partition in the same way. So not only do you now need the XTC Clip...
