So far battery has been fantastic for me. Last year I tried a couple of different 64 bit Pie roms on this device. The ridiculous battery usage has always been a dealbreaker, and there was also this weird issue with frames being dropped during transition animations, and scrolling. None of those...
Not sure if I did something wrong, but OpenGapps Beta didn't really work for me. It installed fine but I couldn't restore apps without purchasing them again. This other Gapps package works fine though:

Pretty good after a day of use. The nightlight keeps turning on on its own at dusk. I have to flip the switch twice to reset it every time the screen is turned off
edit: fixed it by setting a tiny custom scheduled for it to turn on
Glad that you were able to fix this (by returning the tablet). But for anyone else coming to the thread, I ran into the same problem after flashing twrp when I first got the tablet.
The screen will appear as if it's completely broken. At first I thought flashing a custom kernel messed with the...
The picture-in-picture mode is an Android Oreo thing (ever since 8.0), a bunch of apps support it.
Netflix (8.1 and above only), Youtube (Premium)/TV/Youtube Vanced, VLC, Google Maps, full screen videos in Google Chrome, Instagram and facebook videos, and HDHomeRun
You can, you don't need to update twrp (you will lose it anyway), just flash this through odin.
But you'd be better off updating twrp, and flashing a rooted, de-bloated 8.1 which is flashable through twrp.
It has all the stock features, and it's a bit faster in my experience.
You can find the...
If you have trouble getting TB to recognize root even after you grant it perms, just go to Titanium Backup's app settings and delete all data and cache.
Next time you start Titanium it should have no trouble detecting root. Same goes for any other app.
You can roll back to 7.0 btw. I did just that prior to installing this snappy wonderful rom (thanks a lot again).
I went back to 7.0 DBT from the official 8.1 DBT by flashing 7.0 T580XXS4BRI1 DBT through odin. (tried another variant, didn't work)
Anyway here's a mega.nz mirror if anyone wants it.
Comes with the November 1, 2018 Security Patch
Sammobile Link
Mega.nz mirror
You need the Odin3 v3.13.1 (attached below) to flash it. (Older versions won't work)
Most of you probably already know this but here's a quick tutorial on how to flash the stock rom after you extract the zip file:

I just tested this ROM (RR-O-v6.0.0-20180413-griffin-Unofficial.zip) with my Bluetooth headset
connected to it the whole day (it was connected from the moment I switched it on),
and I haven't experienced any 'Bluetooth drain'. Maybe it's a Bluetooth-device-specific issue.
Beautiful. Worked perfectly, didn't think this was possible. Thanks. Had to flash the extracted bin file with fastboot tho, the flashable zip gave me an 'Error: 6' in TWRP.
You can pick any language you want when start your phone for the first time after install, or in the settings later.

Everything works, no problems so far.
Just tested on C6833. It was just as bad as the rest of the MM ROMs out there, except it lacked a lot more features when compared to ROMs like ResurrectionRemix. Some issues I had after just testing for an hour were: random restarts (not completely random, mostly on moderate to high...
Dirty flashed with cache wipe over 5.6.8. adb over network used to turn on automatically even after disabling it after each reboot before, 5.6.9 fixed it. And camera is ok. Changing to front cam breaks functionality (fixes itself after reboot). Cameras both front and back works fine with...
Fantastic. This makes my piece of sh... headphones sound awesome. On 5.1.1. Z Ultra, stock -based rom. Had to install the patch provided by op to get it to work. Thanks.

Here. I think you need to flash another recovery after this, since this one has Cyanogen Recovery. I usually use Rashr to flash the Modified recovery (based on TWRP)
I extracted SlimRoms Kernel from Resurrection Remix Rom. It works for most CM-based roms. For stock I guess you can use this one, haven't tried it though.
The apparent over-saturation is probably because of the X-reality engine. But there shouldn't be any black dots or dead pixels. If there are too many of them you can get a refund.
Just noticed Dynamic Status Bar Color, which was introduced in an earlier version of the rom, was removed from the latest version. Why was it removed, it worked perfectly, AFAIK?
Solution
Finally found an easy solution:
1. Install Xposed Framework, if you already haven't and then install the latest GravityBox[KK].
2. Open Gravity Box, go to "Media Tweaks".
3. Tick the option "Mute Volume Adjust Sound"
4. That's it. [No restart required]
I recently updated...
Glad to know you're still looking into it. Right now I'm trying to figure out if messing with the values in the files below will help me. The last two seems to be related to the overall sound quality, volume, sample-rate conversion, routing and stuff like that. But I'm hopeful about the first...
How do I disable the "beep" sounds when changing the volume using the volume rocker? My device is a rooted Dell Venue 8 3830. I tried to find the ogg file in system/media/audio/ui so I could delete it, but it wasn't there :crying: .
Solution in post #7 :victory:
Don't you mean Rashr? Yep, that's how I flashed the kernel, great tool. I didn't have to flash TWRP Multirom after that though, it was already there. I'm a complete noob, so I have no idea how all this works though.
Brillitant. WiFi, screen-recorder, Bluetooth, camera, DPI changer, everything works. One of the highest benchmark scores too.
Minor Bugs: AudioFX provides no noticeable difference in audio, Turning on "Surround Sound" breaks Bluetooth functionality.
Anything above 360 (361....) works too, I tried up to 480. The lower ones seems to make everything too small, and messes with the alignment of many apps. I found >360 much more comfortable, symmetric, and overall more appealing.
Bluetooth works, WiFi works, both cameras work, so most things works. Beautiful rom. Now I just need to find a darker theme for this.
Yep, no nav bar in landscape mode,
Thanks, works most of the time. The rest of the time it's probably my fault anyway.
The touch doesn't work properly in the boot menu, the vol buttons work pretty good though, so it's manageable.
Nice rom. Wifi is working, camera both front and back is working, although it's crappy as usual. Multiboot is working.
Bluetooth headphones connect, but got no audio, and mp3 straight up refuses to play on the default player while Bluetooth headset is connected.
