Thread Need a little hand figuring out the partition layout on an Acer A1-830 (intel based)

My wife has the above A1-830, it worked for years with little problem after rooting. Fast forward a few months and due to life/career changes, it gets put away for a while. I brought it out a few months ago to give it a top up charge before putting it away and it still worked fine. I go to bring...

Post Linux ISO - Unbrick the Fire HD6/HD7 [Video] [Testers Wanted]

5.3.1 installed once I made sure I had enough time to sit down and look at it without interruption. Updates are blocked, device is rooted. I definitely like the UI improvements over 4.x. It doesn't feel laggy at all, and that is with a LOT of things installed on it.

    Post [Q] Slate 7 Extreme root,flash question

They are still there, alas dropbox has made it so I need to hand out a pseudo link to each individual file rather than the "generic" linking I previously did, blah blah blah mandatory increase in security, blah blah blah. I was honestly wondering how long it was going to be until I was asked to...

Post Linux ISO - Unbrick the Fire HD6/HD7 [Video] [Testers Wanted]

Thank you very much for this. It has been a LONG time since my HD6 worked, at least 11 months. I'm not too sure, but from memory I think i decided to upgrade from 4.5.5 to 5.x and then put it on the charger to top it off before completing the process. When I came back to it, it was booting to...

    Post [Q] Slate 7 Extreme root,flash question

Damn, I'm sorry to say that I'm unsure if i'll be able to help much or at all. All i can suggest is look and see if there is any pre-boot subsystem that connects to your pc via usb, similar to the mediatek "preboot mt65xx" which can sort of provide a last gasp chance of recovery.

Post [TOOLS Fire HD 6&7 ] Rooting, Gapps, Launchers, Block OTA & Ads + More

This worked for me on a HD6 / 5.5.1. I had downloaded and installed the latest version of kingroot and this wasn't able to remove it after doing an attempt at pushing supersu. As soon as i uninstalled the downloaded version and did it all through this script it worked perfectly, first try...

Post Fixing Nexus 7 Touchscreen Issues in 3 Easy steps.

This problem started up on my 2012 nexus after I replaced a faulty USB sub-assembly. It used to be annoying yet tolerable, but had been getting progressively worse as time went on. Miraculously this has proven to be the repair that was needed. Thank you, it makes perfect sense why it fixed it...

    Post [Q] Ilivid Download Manager

Thanks, but still it doesn't sit very well with me that these deceptive practices are so common with advertising. I wouldn't be surprised if it was even worse now that it's 2+ years on.

Post Intel Android Devices Root / Temp Recovery Session

There is aa ROM listed in the second post of this thread. 4.2.2, 4.4.2. I couldn't get this patch to work, but the authors previous patch in the link I just gave worked for me.

Post Root Acer Iconia A1-830 ?

My wifes one previously had kingroot installed. It got a bit flaky after me installing an OTA update against my better judgment and totally screwed permissions on the root volume to the point that I just couldn't root it regardless of the method I attempted (kingroot, oneclickroot, root genius...

    Post [Q] Slate 7 Extreme root,flash question

I didn't have any luck doing it this way. I ended up getting there by a slightly different avenue. My s7e was totally non functional beyong fastboot and recovery mode being operational. I ended up downloading tegratools 2.2. Using the fastboot included in that I unlocked my boot loader with...

    Post [ROM] Android Revolution HD 93.0 | High Quality & Performance | 7.19.401.30 | 5.0.2

It seems a bit intermittent. If it fails at first, try again in five or so minutes.. I had exactly the same problem myself.

    Post [ROM] Android Revolution HD 93.0 | High Quality & Performance | 7.19.401.30 | 5.0.2

The only problems I have encountered so far with the latest version of this rom for HTC one (m7) are as follows; 1) data management applications seem hit and miss, as in they aren't easily able to turn data on and off when applications start (an example of this is "power guard pro", though I'm...

    Post [RECOVERY][NABIJR 4GB] TWRP 2.4.4.0, 2.6.1.0 testing

I've rooted my Nabi Jr, I used the installation of pdanet+ as suggested here to get the correct drivers installed on my pc. I then tested using the manual temporary recovery and that worked just fine, so I then pushed it permanently. It also initiated rooting the fuhu jr upon exit, completing...

Post Compiled Guide on Rooting GT-I9305 (S3 LTE)

Yes, but as I bought a grey import phone Knox' & Samsung's opinion on warranty isn't a massive concern to me. the opinion of the importer matters a whole lot more. If it turns into a physical defect then I'm sure they'll help (though I hope it never gets that far). Software wise I should be OK...

Post Compiled Guide on Rooting GT-I9305 (S3 LTE)

I tried to run chainfire's autoroot again and then install supersu. Finally it worked and disabled knox and i now have root access. I'm glad it's finally sorted. Thankyou for your suggestion though.

Post [Q] Rooting and running custom ROMS on 4.3 with KNOX

This is basically what i would like to know as well. CF-Autoroot did nothing for me except bump my knox counter up from o to 1 and make my phone self exclude from OTA as it thinks it has been tampered with, even though it never even got me root in the process. This knox thing is a pain in the ass.

I had a look and i don't have knox installed. I have a link that prompts me to download knox though. edit: after reading, yeah I've got that blasted knox in there. time to give that script a whirl.

    Post Mainboard Question??

A phone repair store might be able to replace them off a spare parts board for a fee. If you bring them the board and say you want the connectors replaced and are willing to sign a waver saying you accept full responsibility for device failure for them to replace them on a bare board. Other...

    Post JuiceDefender Alternative

Assuming the same extra apps are installed I would guess it would come down to how different your rom was to the one you replaced as well as what the launcher was , what version of the OS was on there (4.1.2 vs 4.2.2, etc). If it was a rom that was lightened I guess it couldn't do anything but...

Post [Root][JB 4.2] Root your Nexus 7 without unlocking bootloader. (djrbliss motochopper)

Did you remember to enable USB debugging? Forgetting that was what tripped me up the first time i attempted to do this and it hung at "Daemon started succesfully". As soon as i enabled debugging and tried again, blammo it worked for me. I also did make sure the asus drivers for the nexus were...

    Post Raspberry Pi Case

I bought a Pi and WAS going to put something like this in there feeding off the 5v microusb input. 4mm is quite thin, so can squeeze into the smallest cases easily. Unfortunately it never happened as i sold the Pi due to lack of time to do what I wanted with it. I did put a heatsink on the cpu...

Post What can I use my Raspberry Pi for?

I bought one with the intent of running something resembling xbmc on it. Unfortunately I ran short of time due to recently becoming a dad, and it just sat there doing nothing gathering dust in its perspex case. I ended up selling it to my boss as he is a mad scale railway fanatic and was...

Post Why Teens Don't Need a Smartphone

Fortunately our little bloke is a LONG way off having a mobile phone, though myself and his mum are both of the belief that kids don't need mobile phones. If we were to get him something before he hit his teens, then it would be something like this and would be a safety-only thing. And _IF_...

    Post The 64GB One

I have a 64Gb One, I was initially trying to get hold of a dev edition, but HTC made it such a pain in the arse to do that I decided to give up before I gave myself an aneurism. I ended up buying a locked one from a local retailer for $786AU (down from the $900 it was a week and a half earlier)...

It helped me thanks. I have rooted samsung phones before, but HTC seem to be an entirely different beast altogether. As it turns out I had forgotten one simple thing, to re-enable usb debugging from within the phone a second time  . Hopefully it isn't something I'll have to screw around...

    Post [Q] Ilivid Download Manager

Yes I know I'm thread-digging slightly here, but I'm getting the same problem with trying to download any rom that goes via the lnx.nu clickthrough (it seems about 99% of roms do). Once I get past the "livid" downloader, my pc starts trying to download a "download_manager.exe" which my antivirus...
