I'm trying to make this work on my HTC 10. I installed, booted, changed the system/etc/htc_audio_effects.conf to .bak and restarted. Now V4A is just hanging and force closing. Viper4713 can you upload your htc_audio_effects.conf file so that I can try to replace mine?

I have been getting some odd connection issues (err_connection_refused while logging into a website, xkcd.com wont load the comic, etc), both on my phone and while tethering. Is there any way to disable the adblocking to see if that is the issue? EDIT: backed up and deleted /system/etc/hosts...

Does this do anything differently than using android-wifi-tether? I have used that for years. I don't want to get caught tethering without paying, can Verizon see the difference?

Well, the issue is that the bootloader cannot be unlocked through htcdev. If we have S-Off, then we can get SuperCID, allowing us to unlock, custom recovery, and flash roms/root.

I am not buying this phone until it is rooted because of this. If there is a workaround, I am 100% buying this thing ASAP. So... Anyone have some ideas?

As the title suggests, the htcdev will not allow a Verizon M8 to unlock. Can someone try performing a CID spoof to allow this process to go through?
