It got resolved, sort of, by pestering HW tech support until they gave me a download link for the B565 Marshmallow firmware. So it is still a mystery why those OTA updates fail.

My current firmware version is ALE-L21C432B171. I want to upgrade to ALE-L21C432B199. OTA updates fail around 4% every time. My phone is not rooted. I don't have any custom recovery. I'll be happy to provide a list of apps for you to see if one of my apps could be the problem.

My phone has never been rooted so that can't be the issue in my case. The vendor information also looks quite legit. Anyone who can help me pinpoint what makes OTA updates fail?

I don't have TWRP or other recovery apps besides the Huawei backup app.

I think you should be able to upgrade from B171 to B199.
