I am having this same issue with pretty much all widgets with Nova launcher. This solution works with the pixel launcher but still doesn't solve the issue with Nova launcher. Do you think it would help if I made Nova launcher a system app?

I know the thread title says magisk but from what I've gathered so far is that Xposed doesn't currently work for pixel XL with magisk. I think super su is required.

Development is pretty dead for the pixel devices. I kinda wish I would have gone with a one plus device. If hacking and flashing ROMs is your thing I think that the one plus would have a lot more action. That being said I've never had a one plus either. Just not a lot going on for the pixel devices.
