I had the same pop as well as alternator whine. I bought the Stinger SGN20 Ground Loop Isolator http://www.amazon.com/Stinger-SGN20-Ground-Loop-Isolator/dp/B002ZRQ3PW and it went away completely. I didn't even need to hook up the extra ground wires on the isolator I use the behringer UCA222
