No mine is always on, and the switch wakes the tablet and then charges it. accessory or engine start is not required to charge.

While that is a good idea, that doesn't help with charging. I personally would want the battery in the tablet to cycle threw its charges instead of always staying connected. (in case i ever wanted to take the tablet out)
