    Post Welcome to XDA 2021!

So... I came via a search engine and just got Oops! We ran into some problems. Are all old links now dead? If so, that's going to suck some really big balls. Or will old links be redirected once migration is sorted? For now I think I'm stuffed. I can't figure out where anything is now, and I'm...

OK, if I don't care about any data on the phone, and don't care about the "orange state" warning/delay... Is the TWRP recovery image the only thing I need to flash to get TWRP working on this model? The image I already tried just rebooted, then made the phone bootloop. Reflashing the stock...

Thread Music players not saving playback position - SWM8802

I'm looking for a music player app that will successfully restart playback from (approximately) the position where it was when I switch off the car. In the past, on my old Android 2.1 unit, I used Music Folder Player, and it did pretty good. But on the SWM8802 I'm fiddling with, it only seems...

Thread Navigation "Next Turn" indicator widgets (or launcher that can do it)?

99% of my driving, I know where I'm going and I only need music and GPS speed info displayed on my head unit. On longer trips, even if I know where I'm going, I'll use Google Maps to help me keep track of how the journey is progressing, but I don't really need the entire full screen map. What...

Post FCC Car Launcher [official thread]

I hope this isn't a stupid question.... As far as I can see, when using the Maps widget (with API key), there's no quick and easy method of setting a one-off destination. It appears the only way to make it happen is to add a new favorite destination (or edit an old one). Could I suggest a...

Yep. That worked. I was just an idiot. Is anyone able to confirm whether there's a balance/fade control on these? Do they even have a 4channel amp or just stereo with the front and rear in parallel?

    Post ROM / Firmware/ Brick Recovery for 7" Android Head Unit AC8227l YT9217 YT9218 1/16GB

I got one of these this week and installed it today.... Just a few questions existing users might have some ideas about... 1) I can't see any front/rear "fade", left/right balance or EQ of any sort (not even a 3 band high/mid/low). Is this a hardware limitation or am I missing a setting/app...

Same here with Textra, ChompSMS, QKSMS.... I can set a default notification sound in settings to whatever I want, but when I try to set a specific one for text messages, the app crashes. Textra can select any of the built in system sounds, but not a custom one. The others don't even get that far.

Just a quick (stupid) one - As long as I stay on the same major version (pie), I can safely reflash the Xiaomi stock ROM in the normal bootloader mode, right? Problems only come up if you try to go backwards?

Post Unlock bootloader on non-booting device?

Thread Unlock bootloader on non-booting device?

I updated to Pie today using OTA. This resulted in a bootloop. Since my bootloader was already unlocked, I booted TWRP (not flashed) and swapped slots. This resulted in booting to the recovery "no command" prompt instead. So I downloaded the only ROM Xiaomi has on their site - 8.1 - and flashed...

Post Magisk Hide not working for Pokemon Go

An easier alternative, if you have the means to do it, is to use a clean spare phone/tablet for Pokemon Go, and keep your phone how you need/want it for everything else. Bluetooth data sharing is enough bandwidth to make PoGo work.

Just installed this on my old Android 2.x headunit... Seems to work really nice but..... It tries to resume music playback before the SD card is "ready", and simply tells me the playlist is empty. Any chance of trying several times over say 60 seconds before throwing that message? My unit...

Goodix sensor. To clarify and simply it for others (because I had to guess a few things): Step 8 means a default TWRP wipe... Don't need to wipe storage or system. Step 9, 10 and 11 appear unnecessary. I didn't do anything beyond the wipe after setting up the password. Nice find though. How...

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][7.1.2][kate/kenzo] LineageOS 14.1

I do that all the time in MIUI. It's one of the downsides to having capacitive buttons, not traditional switch based buttons. You can still do it on real buttons, but you can feel the lip on the button and avoid it. One method to prevent it is keep your phone up the other way in your pocket. :)...

    Post Disappearing VPN profile...?

I'm not 100% sure, but the pattern I've noticed is they seem to stay if I have a lock screen PIN configured, and they disappear if I have no PIN. If you also don't use a PIN or password on your lock screen, you could try enabling it to see if the problem goes away.

Post OUKU - Unbranded 6.2" 2 DIN Android Car Stereo Radio Head Unit

If it's got WinCE, this is not the right place - this is for the pure Android units. My only suggestions would be factory reset it, and if that doesn't work, buy a new unit. Your chances of repairing a hardware fault are very slim, and after hours of fixing it, you're still going to be using an...

Post OUKU - Unbranded 6.2" 2 DIN Android Car Stereo Radio Head Unit

No. The WinCE units can't have Android installed. Reasons: It's quite likely the hardware isn't high enough spec (the CPUs are generally slower, and there's less RAM). Hardly anyone would benefit from developing an Android build for such hardware. Building a working Android system, and the...

Post OUKU - Unbranded 6.2" 2 DIN Android Car Stereo Radio Head Unit

In the 2.3 units, the BT handsfree is basically a standard BT "headset" controller. The mic feeds it's audio input, and the output goes into the amp. All the app does is send commands to the handsfree chip over serial - the BT connection is never touched by any Android software. I assume they...

Post OUKU - Unbranded 6.2" 2 DIN Android Car Stereo Radio Head Unit

Get the newer one. The dual core CPU alone is worth paying more for - stops issues like music pausing when another process hogs the CPU. AFAIK, no one has created any newer ROMs for the older model. I was looking into doing one myself late last year, but didn't get anywhere due to lack of time.

Post OUKU - Unbranded 6.2" 2 DIN Android Car Stereo Radio Head Unit

I dont think it would work... As far as I can tell, the MCU is what sees the switched wire and sends a command to Android to initiate a shutdown when the switched wire is turned off. Android never sees the actual car power status - it sees constant power and no battery. There's workarounds if...
