Post Nexus 7 car install build thread

Hey, I've updated the blog to show you how i did it. It is reasonably easy to remove, that dash panel just pops off in 2 seconds and the tablet can then be removed. As for audio, at the moment its going from the headphone jack to my amps in the boot but i have a USB DAC and a DSP to bring up...

Ah right, well i took a micro USB -> usb male cable and chopped off the micro end and bared the wires, tinned them with a soldering iron so the strands stay together and then touch them on the pogo connections. If i ever get it working then i will buy the pogo pins from digikey and build them...

Thanks :D im not 1000% sure but i have been playing with it to no avail. Might be due to the charging circuit being so damn fussy about chargers and cables, etc. p.s. i love the old GC8 series WRX, my favourite shape of all of them!

All has been taken into consideration. I didn't realize about the polarization but it looks fine through my sunglasses from all angles including the back seats. I'm not too worried about the battery since it is always on charge. I may remove it if it swells due to temperature though. The...

Thanks heaps for your advice, i appreciate the assistance! it's doing my head in... Theres 2 issues. 1. The system is noisy without anything plugged in and 2. The nexus is also noisy and it adds to it. The nexus plugged into my hifi setup at home (or even really good headphones) still is noisy

Post Nexus 7 car install build thread

Amps are grounded using 4G cable straight to a very clean ground point on the chassis (scrubbed with wirebrush and sandpaper), the nexus when running on battery AND when running on the charger still buzzes but the ground for that is through the charger and once again, straight to the chassis...

It's not a slide in/out setup like i would love it to be but the plastic surround around it easily pulls off and the tab can then be removed. When i get home, i'll get some more pics of how it is held in place, etc.

Heh yeah, mine has a brandt alarm system on it with a keypad which may pose a challenge but not something that i am totally unfamiliar with ;P p.s. that sounds dodgy... I have spent many hours messing with that stupid alarm system to avoid having to tow the car back to subaru head office when...

Post My Amateur Tablet In Dash Car Installation

Nice install! i've never had the courage to break out the bondo! I've installed the Nexus 7 in my WRX too. The trick to getting USB charging to work via a cig adapter is to put a USB hub inline. I pulled apart a tomtop GPS charger and wired it into the factory stereo wiring then plugged a USB...
