Give it a try with enabled AdAway but disable the AdAway built-in webserver.

I'm convinced @kurtn exactly means that. Personally, I always flash NanoDroid modules only via TWRP and never in Magisk Manager.

That's exactly the version I've installed and am using. Last updated in December 2019 as the SD Maid screenshot shows.
