Which rule would that break? :p

A while back (I was a longer time lurker LOLS), only decided to sign up when I bought my Galaxy S, XDA was forced by the Official Swype Devs to remove all Swype mods that removed the requirement to register for a beta as "pirating software." Now Samsung Swype mods exist because they still follow the guideline - in which case they are to be installed on a Samsung ROM.

Can you install touchwiz 4 on latest MIUI?

One of the only things I dont like about MIUI is the interface, especially the messaging system. Its so small when you write a message.

The one on the stock SGS phone is much much better. Different colours for each person. big space for writing etc

TouchWiz 4 is just a launcher. You can get that on MIUI. But you can't get the sms app. Well maybe you can. Look at the fifth post on the first page. Dunno what you can do with it right now but you can test it out. :p

LOLS The only thing you don't like about MIUI is the interface? o_O The definition of "MIUI" is "MY - UI (i.e. USER INTERFACE)" LOLS ...

I don't understand what you mean by "it's so small when you write" you can change the Font size in (coming from on top of my memory) Settings > Personal > Fonts

As for the "different colours for each person" just try a different themes.

No I mean the boxes where you write SMS is small, regardless of the font size. And when you receive them. It doesn't seem to use up the whole screen properly, its all cramped into a small space

The colours, I mean you have blue to represent yourself yellow to represent other person etc. Its just not so straightforward and easy on the eyes as the stock one.

I will try themes.

Also I like on the stock one how you easily have acces to Keypad, Logs, favourites, contacts, history etc all at the top and you switch between them with just one press. I think you have to go into the menu button have a pop up etc and do a bunch of things to switch between these in MIUI.

I also don't like how everything installs and is dumped on the home screen, and you have no applications button so you can keep your home screen clean.

Also when you try to remove what you think are short-cuts on the home screen it actually uninstalls the application.

On the stock one, the home screen is like your desktop on windows, and what you install automatically goes in your applications. So if you install stacks of applications, they just go in applications, in order of install which is the best method IMO, and this keeps your home screen clean.
then, if you like a particular app you can just hold it down and send a shortcut to your home screen i.e desktop.

These are some things that felt so much more cumbersome to me in MIUI and a step back

Don't use it then. Maybe try CM7 which is closer to stock

Is there a way to edit your mms_config.xml ?

Because I need to edit your file to change the user agent. I can't receive mms with my phone carrier with your file.

The french version of miui has a different useragent and I can receive mms.

I try to decompile the Mms.apk with Apk manager but it shows me an error.
(because it's an odex rom?)

I am having slightly weird problem.
Here's what I did

4.3->format system->format cache->kernel cleaner->Glitch v10->MCGv5

I was expecting bootloops but to my surprise it just booted normally and I used the phone for about 2hrs (light usage). Now all of a sudden my phone booted and then its in the loop.

Like mentioned in this forum I let it loop for about half an hour now. But its still looping.
Any pointers ?

hi guys,is it normal to lose 25% of battery life in 7h standby.battery was at 100%(no wifi, only 3g)

Leave Wifi TOGGLE ALWAYS ON! NO matter what! REFER TO FAQS!

Honestly ... all the things you are pointing out defines MIUI! Switch over to CM7, it seems to suit you more, and includes all (plus more) features

Don't use it then. Maybe try CM7 which is closer to stock

Did you have happen to overclock/undervolt? If you have, format /system and /cache then flash MIUI again. (Don't worry you won't lose any settings/apps)

... the second rule of CyanogenMod release dates is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT CYANOGENMOD RELEASE DATES!" <-- the SAME applies to this! MIUI is based on CM7, so CM7 bugs REMAIN. Please acknowledge this (thanks to Zach for suggesting i put this up!)
    :)
NOTE: THIS IS A STABLE RELEASE!

Right, so after lots of trial and error, i finally got MIUI booting on our phones (the new compiled Gingerbread one for Nexus S).

I will be taking a short break this week to concentrate on real life jobs! My warm thanks to Galnet for helping out and creating future builds. I'll be back soon, if i don't reply to PM's this means i will do once i am back. Also, please do check the FAQ here, if a PM is MIUI related and it's stated in the FAQ you will be directed there instead :) thanks!

NOTE: IF anyone has an issue with the builds we create and think we shouldn't be using CM resources contact me directly.

As of 28th March: MIUI has gone official, thanks to plane501 AND zygame (for being supportive in this matter as well) for letting everyone know! It seems they have used our port as a base It is a LOT better and more refined, more fixes, and the phone actually reboots once you apply a theme :D The official is made with CM sources and that MIUI-Dev team have made it. Kenia has worked very hard on RC2 and it is now AVAILABLE. We don't just deodex the ROM etc, it's customized and has a custom Kernel.

    UPDATE 24/03/11:

    Important Announcement:

I have spoken to Kenia and will speak to jblanc, but as the official MIUI Port has started by MIUI.cn, we will only release Beta 6 as a final stage.

This does not mean we will stop development, but there will not be any further quick updates as most of the issues have been ironed out EXCEPT External SD, which we are hoping the official team can fix.

We'll be keeping track of the official port and post it here etc, customizing it for XDA'ers, but for now it seems unreasonable for us to do something that the official devs are working on.

This is not finalized yet, but i thought i'd let you all know anyway. We are also very busy and cannot keep track all the time, but we will keep things going and not ditch this like the previous devs :). We've all come a long way with this project and it hasn't even been that long! Some astonishing work by my team mates.

As of 24th March: It seems like it is our port on MIUI.cn, but i need to get in contact with them. If anyone can help in this matter please do let me know. Also, we will continue with updates but not so frequently, we have day jobs too ;). Basically whenever MIUI.cn release a new version, it'll be implemented, for sure. Please PM me if you can help in any way with this project, it can be anything, from GFX to coding.

As of 25th March: New MIUI Update 1.3.25 was released today, and has been successfully ported :) Internal SD card is now working once more (thanks to Segnaro!) Beta 7 is on it's way!

    NEW TWITTER: http://twitter.com/#!/MIUI9000

    Stay tuned anyway. Original Post.
    Changelog.

    Theme Information/Screenshots.

    FAQ.

    Adding/Removing TouchWiz from ROM.

    MIUI Jblanc

    ------------------------------------------

If you would like to show more appreciation of the work we've done, you can always donate to us. Links will be added soon, it's not necessary but a coke or a pizza would help ;)

    Cheers.
