I can't get wifi working. When I enter my password my signal goes from excellent to poor and it just gets stuck on "authenticating" I know my wifi is working as it's what I'm using my laptop on and writing this with.

Hi Yasir,

If I understand correctly your phone restarts when running Mx Video or Disk usage ? It could be an memory issue. I think I remember something about when the memory gets tight it might reboot. So maybe other option is to test if the same problems exists when using the SD-card as storage.

I just installed DiskUsage and it works for me. I also installed Mx Player (did you mean Mx player) and it starts to, but I noticed that the video it plays is distorted. So that's something that does not work .. Need to look into video playing.

Thanks for detailed reply.. I just mentioned the bug and haven't tried any solutions yet. Mx video player runs nice here with h/w rendering just fine..... Soft reboot just happened to randomly.... I'll try using swap or ksm (if available, haven't checked yet)... Thanks anyway... All other things running fine....

Pathrom help

I did the whole patchrom by trail and error. I could not find any guide so in the end I just started to play around and try. It looks very complicated, and sometimes you'll need to think twice or three times to figure out what really happens, but in the end I found patchrom rather logical and smart.

But if you have questions, PM me. I can see if I can help.

Hi Marange, great work on the rom so far. I too have patchrom issues and as you say the guides online are not very explicit, so some tips would be great!

Dear Marange, thanks for this rom. I was for long time a user of xj's miui rom, but since yesterday I got this one.

After a few reinstalls (first time it would not boot, only bootani was visible and second time small memory prob) it is running smootly!
I even got v6 superscript running now without problems.

One problem I had yesterday was with wifi, I'm using static ip addresses but I couldnt apply them, a bug maybe? After all at once it worked!

Marange for resolved this problem "Fix (hopefully) to the "black screen of death" kernel problem ("on demand" governor) [DOES NOT WORK YET]" you need to upgrade the kernel rom sandvold, because new rom does not have this problem.

hmmm... i stuck at boot animation.... cm7r2 hboot.... wiped everything... why is that?

Hi Chickenz,

Do you have a second partition on your SD-card? What is the format of the second partition ? I had the first time, when I installed Lennox' Miui-AU Rom, the problem that my second partition was ext-2 formatted (done by Cyanogenmod, so I didn't know) and in the installer I selected ext-3. That gave a boot loop. So make sure that you have a second partition and select the correct format in the installer.

If the format is the same, then I don't know. Can you make a logcat ? Or maybe like soronk suggested, a problem with the SD-card. Had that problem last weekend (which had as an effect that I released my ROM a very days later then planned).

Just a general question for MIUI Roms:
How do the Icons look like in App Drawer and so on?
There are icon packages but how will the icons which arent included in the package look like?

hboot

Guys, attached is an hboot i made for myself using thalamus hboot patcher(credit to him of course)
table as follows:
system: 200 mb (enough for marange ics, bcm bravo, aokp, sandvold stock)
cache: 5 mb
data: 233 mb (it can take dalvik cache as well if you install normal amount of apps so ALL things are on NAND and no sd-ext is required in any case)

I think its a useful setup which wont be required to change very often if u happen to switch ICS roms....

NOTE: I posted hboot because not all people are comfortable using hboot patcher in fear of bricking their device, so i tested it first on my device....
(BUT in any case, i take no blame for corrupt downloads)

Instruction: Flash using fastboot commander.
MD5: A33354ED691104227A2C380EE209FBD7
Screen of my setup using marange ics attached...

Thanks for any reply...

rom is a bit slower when scrolling through the menus/app drawer using the same go launcher + lower battery life than my XJ setup (2.3.30 + Manu kernel)

with the same settings, I noticed though, that live wallpapers are smoother on this ICS ROM.

I have tested it for three days and although it has great potential, I went back to my XJ setup.

Hope this info helps.

I have to tell my story.
Before trying to flash this rom i had MIUI XJ on CM7r2 with 4EXT Recovery Touch v1.0.0.4 RC 3.
So what i did - i downloaded marange rom ~5 times, and after each flashing a had only android screen and the phone didn`t boot.
So i decided to change hboot to Data++.
I was doing this at work. Hboot change was made via fastboot with PB99IMG.zip method. Beacause the CM7r2 change is possible only through downgrade i used my work computer which is under administrator restrictions. So first i flashed CM7r2 downgrade zip in fastboot. Then i went into recovery, mounted sdcard and changed downgrade zip to Data++ PB99IMG.zip on sd card root with my work computer. And again flashed Data++ hboot in fastboot. After that i tried do go in to recovery and flash MARANGE rom but recovery started in safe mod and i was told that after hboot change i had to wipe cach to boot recovey in normal mod. So i did wipe cach and rebooted recovery. But after that recovery didn`t start and shows an epmty 4EXT Recovery screen so i cant do nothing.
As i said work computer is under admin restrictions and phone fixing at the moment isn`t possible.
That`s the story - truthful and unvarnished.
At home i hope to try to reflash recovery. If this doesn`t help than i will try to return hboot to CM7r2. Maybe this will help me to get into recovery and to flash my backup of MIU XJ.

After thinking about it for some time I decided to retire the ROM. Stability issues with my phone (hardware wise) and with the ROM, coupled with lack of spare time, I decided to retire my trusty desire and the ROM. I thanks everyone for the kind words and thanks to the people who donated. Everything is very appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Marange

The is the patchrom build of MIUI v4 (ICS) 2.10.26 for the HTC Desire. It is based on:
    • Sandvold's ICS 0.8.1 ROM (Android 4.0.4) as a base (thanks to Sandvold)
    • Aroma/MIUI-Au installer (thanks to Amarullz and Lennox)
    • patchrom MIUI v4 2.10.26

If you like what I am doing, a amazon gift card would be nice or click on the 'donate to me' button.

    Please note:
this ROM will not be update exactly every week (but I try to keep up), and asking about updating the base will not make a change of base go faster. It takes a lot of time to change/update the base and it is not easy (otherwise I would have done it already), so progress on that is going slowly and I will show it to the world if and when it is ready. This is a one-man operation and I don't have unlimited time. So please enjoy the ROM as is.

(I cleaned up the OP. I removed a lot of the older versions. Hope that doesn't lead to problems).

You can download the ROM thru their app GooManager. Select the option "Browse compatible ROMs' and you will find the ROM. I also upload it to mediafire.

Please note that the ROM works for me, but understand this is a beta version (because the base ROM is beta and MIUI is changing the ROM every week, I still keep it on beta level), flash at your own risk. Make a NAND backup before installing, so when things go wrong, you can back to the previous version. If you experience any serious problems, do a full wipe/factory reset then flash again.

    NOTE for 2.9.29
Because Xiaomi did not release a new version this week, I decided to upload the 2.9.29 version. It looks stable and IMHO it looks a tiny bit faster. But I needed to remove the Hanzi patch in this version, because Xiaomi did change the code completely, so the patch failed. If people can try and see if the patch is still needed ? There are no other changes in this version (with exception of the 2.9.28 and 2.9.29 patches). I spend most of my spare time on "real life issues" and working on a version with an updated base. I got it to boot, but need (a lot more) time to get all the patches in. So please no questions about ETA's or for information.

    CHANGELOG for 2.9.21 (since 2.9.7)

    NOTE FOR 2.9.7
At least version 2.8.31 had an issue on cm7r2 hboot. There was not enough space on the system partition, which caused FC's. In this version I moved some more stuff to the SD-card, so that the space issue is solved and 2.9.7 should work again without trouble on cm7r2 hboot.
2012-09-15: The 2.9.7 release has a problem with root permissions. Xiaomi implemented a check to determine of a ROM should have root permissions (development mode) or not (stable mode). One way or another the 2.9.7 build is put in stable mode. There is a patch (see DOWNLOAD PERMISSION PATCH FOR 2.9.7 above) which switches permissions into development mode.

    • Camera library from 0.7 (Panorama and barcode scanner are working)
    • Removed Maps.apk to make room on data++ and cm7 hboots. Please download from google play if you want it (read below!).

    NOT WORKING:
    • USB Tethering
    • OTA updates (use GooManager for this)
    • Instability/Random reboots sometimes (but not a lot :) ) (especially after playing music)
    • MIUI Music Player has sometimes a random noise for a split second (looks like a MIUI player problem)
(looks like select smartassv2 as governor solves this)
    • Looks like Adhoc wifi is not working
    • Probably more

    REQUIREMENTS:
    the same as MIUI Au:
    • Requires an ext3/4 partition to be the second partition on your SD Card.
    • Will install on Stock HBOOT without problems. On Data++ and cm7 HBOOT, there are issues. I am looking into it.
    • Only stock HBOOT, Data++ and Sense can perform data wipe without rom reinstallation, due to system files needing to be moved for other HBOOT's.

    INSTALLATION:
    • Make sure you have an ext3/4 partition setup as the second partition on your sd card, otherwise you will have very little memory to use as data2ext won’t work.
    • If you restore apps or data using Titanium or MIUI Backup, there may be problems due to changes from GB to ICS. If you do have any, restore apps one by one to find the culprit.

    NOTES
After installing you can get the message:
    System UIDs Inconsistent

UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable.
    [I'm Feeling Lucky]
Only solution I found was to backup the apps, do a wipe and reinstall the backup.

For some people wifi was not working and that is solved by using wifix. Just select it in the installer and it will get installed automatically.

The FC's in supermarkt en Gallery are still there. I am working on it, but still have no idea what and why it happens (Gallery) or I know know what happens, but don't know why (Supermarkt).

    @all

Sorry this is a bit off topic, just wanted to say ive purchased a mi-one and will no longer be doing much in regards to the desire. Ive given marange open invitation to email any time he has a problem i might be able to help with, but other than that ive done as much as i can/will development wise. Will still drop in from time to time to help bug fix / answer questions.

Thanks to all previous users of miui-au, and hope my contribution to miui v4 on the desire has been useful.

And a big thank you to marange for stepping in when i had to stop, and for doing an awesome job with patchrom, and hope everyone supports him and continues to use the best android rom: D

    Cheers!

[ROM][ICS] MARANGE HTC DESIRE MIUI V4 2.8.3 Beta (uploaded on August 9th, 2012)

The is the patchrom build of MIUI v4 (ICS) 2.8.3 for the HTC Desire. It is based on:
    • Sandvold's ICS 0.8.1 ROM (Android 4.0.4) as a base (thanks to Sandvold)
    • Aroma/MIUI-Au installer (thanks to Amarullz and Lennox)
    • patchrom MIUI v4 2.8.3

    CHANGELOG (since 2.7.20)
    • Included all the patches from 2.7.27
    • Included all the patches from 2.8.3
    • Adblocker works again
    • Included an option to install the "Search button to recent apps" patch
    • Included change in the 03lennoxd2x script (by Gosicnarf)
    • Included latest version of Google Play
    • Include ZRam in the options

NOTE: The problem with VPN (does not disconnect when the connection is selected) still exists. I am looking into this but did not yet find the problem. Also a2sd is not included (also did not work in 2.7.20, so I removed it again). Use the amarullz a2sd in the installer as an alternative. (Or one of the other SD-ext options ;) ).

NOTE 2: I know that this release is a bit late. Sadly sometimes real life is interfering. This is not something I can avoid. I need to eat (sometimes :p) and pay the bills. But I do keep working on it, so sometimes there will be a release (sometimes weekly, but it is hard work to keep up with xiaomi).

    Marange MIUI retired

    Hi,

After trying to work on the ROM the last few months, I noticed that I am lacking the spare time and also having a lot of trouble with stability - not only ROM wise, but also my phone is giving trouble, hardware wise. The latest release is the most stable and I don't want to release a version is worse then the previous version and gives the users trouble.

I did build a version every week, but first my SD-card broke (took some time to figure that one out) which gave a lot of FC's in the ROM and after fixing that I got more and more issues in the ROM. In the latest (2.12.28) version battery life is terrible. After a night the battery is empty and there are even more major issues with it (like mounting the data partition read-only after a reboot). So there is something terrible wrong with my build.

But lack of time and a phone which is at the end of it's life (by wear and tear, I mean) I decided, with a heavy heart, to retire my desire and retire MARANGE MIUI. I don't say this is the complete end of it. Maybe I will build a version and see what comes out of it. I liked working with and on the desire. It is a lovely phone and I think I will keep tinker with it (for as long as possible). And if there is something stable and useful I will release it, but don't wait for it ;).

A big thank you for all the kind words and support on this trip and also a very big thank you to the people who donated. Everything is very appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Marange
