I think you have answered your question..you can only connect with internet by enabling network data...

i think its your location, if you use 3G you could connect but if you use 2G you cant, it means your location doesn't have that strong 2G signal compared to your 3G signal. better try it on other places like malls coz they got high 2G signal.

yeah, just choose GSM and no need to change APN. you just need to change your APN when you change Sim Card because every sim got different APN and our phone only views what APN we added on that certain sim :) hope this helps :)

Sorry....I hope you mean every provider had different APN.....cos SIM's from same provider do not need new APN...just change if you move to another provider with new SIM.

yeah that's what i mean XD we just recognize a "new sim" as a new network provider here in the philippines :) thanks for the clarification, hope we gave a clear solution :)

Of course you should......

how otherwise do you hope to use Mobile Data Network??

Also available from "stock" power button menu, Data Network mode dctivated/deactivated.....see pics below for what I get on GSM only:

SC20120702-170633.png

GSM only Selected...Settings/Wireless and networks/Mobile networks/Network mode

SC20120702-173417.png

You will get the above warning!!...say OK!!

SC20120702-173350.png

Result!!! See Edge[E] Network Symbol in Notification

SC20120702-171711.png

Also can be done using Power Button Menu...showing Stock Menu

This is how I utilise 2G, and save Battery, useful for checking e-mail, etc, and uses very little Data....I leave it on 2G/GSM unless I absolutely need 3G/WCDMA....

Hope above helps!!!!
