Okay stupid question probably but I just noticed this today. When I open browser to view Web pages the brightness is significantly lower than the screen would be outside of the browser. I always keep my brightness settings for phone and browser (hit menu button while in browser) on the auto setting. But when I open the browser its almost un readable because of how dim it is. Every other app and normal phone dimming works normal, just browser that I can hardly read
I can override the auto setting and adjust brightness all the way up but then auto dimming won't work... :(

Maybe you have the 'power saving' mode on. Check in the toggles and make sure it isn't selected

Phone: Galaxy Note II - SGH-i317M* Provider: Telus Rom: Stock (JB 4.1.1) (unrooted) Kernel: Stock Recovery: TWRP

Thanks to the Devs hard work and the power of sharing!

I can't quote both of you with this app but I did in fact have power saving mode on.. Thank you

I seem to be having a problem. And I have no idea why. I root my phone and go through all the steps and processes of setting up TWRP etc. Do all that is necessary and when the ROM is flashed it just keeps a blank black screen and I keep getting an error saying Unfortunately, Settings is not responsive.

Any ideas? Love this ROM and had it on my original Note 2 but had to get it replaced.

I have read multiple posts regarding poor speeds and thought nothing of it at first. Yesterday I was trying to convince a friend of mine to root and flash when we ran a couple side by side comparisons. He was averaging 20mb and i didn't even hit 1mb (down). after running the test a few times I saw that i was not running anywhere near LTE speed. I have the utmost confidence in the rom so even though both phones were on AT&T i called to check if there were any issues. So i got my answere, I am a victim of the limited/ unlimited plan. Being that i am amoung the top 5 percent of data users they have limited my data speed until my billing cycle starts starts. So it wasn't the ROM it was AT&T.

just noticed if you go to the build.prop that "video.accelerate.hw=1" as well as "debug.composition.type=gpu" is in there twice, doesnt that just create a wasted resource?

No. It just means there are two duplicate lines. It may cause an unnecessary boot delay of 1/100000000'th of a second but other than that... Nothing will become of it.

They are just toggles. Once they are on they are on. Now... If I had them toggle on and then toggle off the efficacy of the implementation could be challenged for sure!

I am coming from a sgs3 and I was wondering does this rom have something like what Wanam did in wanamlite? Like enabling a bunch of hidden languages? Mainly I'm wondering if Chinese and Japanese are enabled (for UI)

My thanks for all your (continued) contributions, Scott :) A small donation's on its way.

Coming from my old Motorola Defy, the Note 2 is a substantial upgrade. Things have changed significantly since Eclair (but dammit, that wasn't that many years ago)!

Stumbled around a little, learning my way with the new flashing procedures but managed to successfully install CleanROM after a few hours of sifting through XDA. Once all the steps are figured out, it's a pretty clean and quick procedure! Root, Recovery, Flash -> Done!

Managed to replicate a weird bug that had a brief mention in the thread - Installed the AT&T Keyboard Patch (I'm on Canadian provider Fido, using a Rogers ROM -- Rogers owns Fido, and the Note 2 just happens to work on both without unlocking), but Contact names vanished in Messaging app on existing text message threads, leaving just the phone numbers to identify the messages.

Reflashed CleanROM and all's back to normal. Will test out Skype and Stock Samsung keyboard (and back up) before considering reflashing.

I'll read up on the CSC and editing before trying out the patch again. Just want the keyboard, and not the rest of the AT&T Icons, if possible. Annoying that I have to slow down to punctuate my messages.

Anyhow, wonderful work -- thanks again!

Cheers!

Anyone with ATT recommend this or the OTA? This is the first rom I installed with this phone and gotta say am loving it. The perseus kernel makes the phone feel a little faster with exception to multi view, and with the new baseband data speeds have definitely improved for me. Compared it to my parents' phones which are unrooted ota all three of us seem to be having very similar performance again with exception to my multi view being a little slower but the rest of my experience feeling a little faster.

I ask because I would like to know if the rooted performance is any different to the unrooted. I really am liking the 5x4 home screen as well as the volume keys for music control.

Thanks Scott for all of your work.

alarms not going off

I've searched through this thread and not found a definitive answer for people who say that their alarms aren't going off. I just want to check, those who DO have them working properly, are you using perseus kernel or stock?

Also, awesome work scrosler. If this was still being updated for the nexus 7, I would be running this on all my devices!

    • Must have custom recovery installed. I recommend the latest version of twrp.
    • Copy ROM to storage
    • Reboot to Recovery
    • Must wipe data and factory reset in Recovery. Failure to do so waves your "right" to support.
    • Restoring any data from any back up also waves all your right to support. Please don't bother posting in the thread!
    • Flash ROM and Select Options!
    • Reboot to System
    • Profit!

    About Installation
    • Do NOT flash Mods or Themes unless they say CleanROM ACE 4.7.0 compatible!!!!
    • Clean flashing is the only recommended flashing method! Anything else may lead to problems!
    • If you have problems go back and wipe data and re-flash. Do not report in the thread until you do so!
    • If you fail to wipe Clean or you choose to restore data / apps or anything else from back up apps like Ti Back up you will suffer from a seriously degraded experience!
    • If you flashed a Mod / Theme or Kernel do NOT report any bugs until you wipe Clean and re-flash with only options included in the ROM!
    • Do it by hand or dont do it at all!

    Boot Animation Info
    • If you choose Stock Animations then you can use THESE animations!
    • If you choose Custom Animations then you can use THESE animations (or any other you find you like)!
MOD EDIT: Download link removed with OP's permission.

    Good by for now!

Sorry to disappoint guys... But some bad news...

The good, the bad , the ugly....

The good first: I'm going to have my time on my hands!

The Bad: Its because I am slowly exiting Android Development.

The Ugly: I wont be updating this ROM as planned...

    At this time...

I consider this ROM open source and anyone can build off it and claim it. Just give appropriate credit for the base...

Its been fun guys but my priorities have changed substantially. I will be slowly exiting Android Development. This may or may not be permanent.

    Its nice....

Please hit "Thanks" if you are wantin' to see it! I would love to see 23K before upload and maybe 25K in the near future.

I dont get paid to do this other than the pure enjoyment I get from my Thanks and Downloads meter going up. Help a brother with Thanks :good:

Here is one for the road ;)

NOTE: I update the Aroma Binary installer on this one and noted that out of about 15 installs (yes, that many test installs on a build of CleanROM) it would get to the install portion and just not install. A simple reboot into recovery and run the install again fixed. Still not sure if this is an Aroma issue a recovery issue. Either way I didint think it was a show stopper.

    As always...
