Yet another audio observation. EVERY aosp rom has had this wierd issue with recording regardless of kernel. After about a second or so the record level drops drastically. Only with a steady input though. If the source stops and starts again, like a break in the song or a conversation as opposed to singing a long note, it starts over. As in the level jumps back up and then gets squished again. Seems like a noise control. Like it's sampling the input for background noise and then adjusting accordingly. That's my guess anyway. Now that's all fine and good in a call but for video or audio recording it's ludicrous. Short story long, since the new release of komodo..... that sh.. is a memory! Recordings are loud crisp and clear and level remains constant. Thank you.... thank you.... thank you. Round of applause. Keep it up bro.

I dirty flashed 4-6 and it worked but scrolling was weird. It would jump back up when I scrolled down. Also my browser would go back a page after I clicked links. Tried clean install with 4-6 n rls29 kept bootloopn..

I think that's something to do with the 4-6 version of the ROM. I have the same effects but I've been running the stock kernel since doing a clean flash.

It only affects some phones as I know lots of people who don't have this issue. Never had it on Amy version of TD CM10.1 until 4-6.

Yea I was surprised to not hear a lot of people having this issue. I've been running cm for the longest time and never had the issue b4 4-6. Thought it might have been kernel related is the reason I posted here. Tried a clean install and stock kernel n still had issues. Idk man I normally don't have these type of issues. Has to b the phone Lol! Reverted to a backup n loaded rls30 n no problems.

A little off topic but the 4trk recorder I've been whining about for months was just updated. They added a latency section in settings. ;) I'm psyched. The latest version of komodo is close enough that it should work flawlessly.

Hey TL...all the graphical glitching has ceased when running jamieg's Carbon rom as opposed to deck's CM10.1. Not sure what the difference could possibly be that causes the problem, but I do believe I have eliminated Komodo as the primary issue.

Also note, Arc Reactor runs beautifully for me on Sense5 as well. So the glitching and graphical artifacts must be caused by something deck is doing to the 10.1 rom, at least on my device.

So I have been having random reboots with this kernel over the last few releases, on all different settings, on cm10.1. It seems that regardless of governor, scheduler, or max/min settings my phone will just reboot without anything in common. I have applied the voltage stabilizer and no difference. I'd like to get a logcat but I can't recreate the reboot so I don't know how to make sure I get it. Any suggestions?

Tried running the v30 1.8Ghz variant with Carbon and got stuck in a boot loop. If I flash just Carbon and not this kernel all is well. I figured running the latest kernel would be appropriate, but should I be using V29?

No 30 is what you need but 1.8 might be a little more than your phone can handle

Does this have to be right after the reboot? I had one about 20 minutes ago, but I've been on my phone sense then.

I'd like a professional opinion on this. I've flashed countless kernels at all stages, Including after days of heavy use, and had no problems, but I've always been curious if this is not recommended for some reason.

Don't think it really matters as long as your battery is not low. I have flashed countless kernels so I can test with no ill affects

Come to think of it, I've dirty flash new build of cm and reflashed the kernel. You have to in that case or you'll have the stock cm kernel.

Just adding my 2cents. When I run any aosp ROM and 90% of the time I am, I expierence 1 reboot a day and sometimes 2 no matter which rim I run. Like you I CV hanged govners, schedulers and voltage but the reboots continued. I'll add that some days I wouldn't have any. Anyways I figures it was komodo causing them cause I always use it on aosp and a few have mentioned that komodo was causing them slight problems. So for 36 hrs I'm running carbon with stock kernel. Today I had 2 reboots, a few frozen screens, lag on my launcher and generally poor battery life compared to what I'm used to.
I guess my point is komodo may not be your problem. I know I've eliminated it from my suspects.
Looking forward to getting better battery life and generally messing with the settings on komodo. I've been oc to 1.8 and still battery life is improved over stock

    here is a little explanation of kernel based thermal and mpdecision control
    What is msm_thermal?

    Kernel based 3-phase thermal control!
    This replaces your /system/bin/thermald binary which is renamed by the installer to thermald_backup.

    Check /sys/kernel/msm_thermal/conf/ for the thermal configuration

    allowed_max_high = highest threshold (phase 3)
    allowed_max_low = remove the throttling if we cooled down to this (clr_thrshold)
    allowed_max_freq = max frequency if throttled (limit)

    [...]mid[...] = same as above, just for phase 2
    [...]low[...] = Lowest threshold (phase 1)

    check_interval_ms = how often shall we check? (sampling rate)
    Default: 1000ms (=1sec)

    If you want to see msm_thermal doing it's job:

    What is msm_mpdecision?

    100% kernel based multi core decision! (should cpu1 be online or not?)

    startdelay = time until mpdecision starts doing it's magic (70000)
    delay = time between checks (500)
    pause = if something else plugs in the cpu, fall asleep for 10000
    scroff_single_core = if the screen is off, don't plug in cpu1 (1)
    nwns_threshold_up = runqueue threshold, if this is reached cpu1 will be hotplugged (35)
    nwns_threshold_down = runqueue threshold, if this is reached cpu1 will be unplugged (5)
    twts_threshold_up = time threshold, this amount of time must have passed (250)
    twts_threshold_down = same as above (250)
    enabled = enable(1) or disable(0) mpdecision. This does not affect scroff_single_core!
    idle_freq = a value against that will be checked if a core +/- is requested. (486000)
    If cpu0 is below that value and a core up of cpu1 is requested, nothing will happen.
    If cpu1 is above that value and a core down of cpu1 is requested, nothing will happen. (otherwise it would now put down cpu1 even though it is still working)

    • What is FSO?

      Fso has greater speed, but there is a chance of corrupting if the phone has a random reboot.

      Non-fso is what a stock kernel is and does not have the corruption issue.

      It's a trade off, performance for stability or visa versa

    If you have issues with reboots viperboy has created a script to increase voltages which may help with stability for the rebellious phones thanks viperboy

    For the next update I have upgraded to linux 3.0.53. Also good news is gpu oc will be controllable with kernel tuner. Bad news is in talking with the dev for kernel tuner there is a derp in the code for our device. He is going to fix it for the next app update. I also gave him my gpu clock speeds so it will work perfect with komodo.

    CM kernel source is looking pretty good now, thick. You might be able to get it building better now ;).

    Been working on it still no s2w but have a few more governors and io schedulers. Plus O3 optimized.
