modem compatible with SGS3 CHINA ( version i9300_chn)?

Hi!.

Somebody know which modem is compatible with SGS3 version GT-i9300_CHN.?

i modify a stock rom based 4.1.2 I9300XXEMD3_I9300NEEEME1_NEE and I9300ZCEMD2_I9300CHNEMD2_CHN

I Put inside the NEE rom modem.bin, sboot.bin, y tz.img of CHN, because without sboot.bin and tz.img, fail in flash with odin.

It works well, but the download Mode still in chinese, i think is because sboot.bin.

I need to know if there is a modem.bin compatible with the chinese modem, because i want to put download mode in english or flash a stock rom unbranded compatible with this mobile.

I hope somebody can help me.

Thanks

Go to system/addon.d folder and check for any files with ril in the name, if there are delete them, like "82-ril.sh".

Thanks for that. So as I have no such files in that folder (using Omega-7 4.2.2 AOKP ROM, which came with XXEMB6) then I'm safe to change my modem to any 4.1.2 (non-RIL) variant? I'm going to the states for a couple of weeks soon, so may want to switch to a different modem for better data connections to AT&T in Orlando. (By the way, any suggestions for one which defaults to 850 first, or should I just try a 'T' version?)

Yes it's safe, you shouldn't install T variant modems on your device. Check the modems region by checking samsung codes.

I'm using ParanoidAndroid (based on 4.2.2 AOSP) and uses OpenRIL. Is it okay if I use the 4.1.2 modem for O2?

Try it but there are many 4.1.2 modems .

jje

I'm asking if it's okay/safe to flash a 4.1.2 modem on a ROM which has OpenRIL.

Generally if you can't answer a question, you don't answer it.

Moving on swiftly, I've tested it and no real change in reception. Thanks to OP and contributors.

You can change modem to whatever you want but you shouldnt change Ril since you are on openril build. Some modems come with modem+ril but not on this thread..

[REF] Galaxy S3 Modem / Radio Collection (I9300 & I9300T ONLY) CWM & Odin Flashable

Warning: All modems (radio / baseband) are for the International I9300 & I9300T variant only!!

Sick and tired of searching for that elusive modem ? Search post #2 for I9300 modems & post #3 for the I9300T variant.

All modems are interchangeable between both these models. The I9300T modem is optimised for the 850 MHz band, but it may not be the best for you. Try, test and find out :)

I do encourage members to post their recommended modems for their various region / location / carrier / device model and testing results (signal strength & stability, speed, call quality, battery life etc).

However, please do not turn this into “which is the best modem for.........” thread. In most cases it is subjective. Your carrier, topography, location, time of day / night, network congestion, and distance from cell tower etc all make huge difference. Try, test them for yourself, and then post ;)

If you have a modem or request for a missing I9300 or I9300T, please feel free to post here and I’ll add it to OP (credit given) or endeavour to source and package it for you as soon as I’m able.
