Hello..i know this is the wrong thread to ask but this is the most active mtk-related thread + i asked in some other threads and no one answered so here it is...

am trying to port an mtk6589(micromax hd a116) rom to another mtk6589 (cubot gt99) and so far it boots, wifi, bt, gps, sms, 3g, usb are all working fine except for one bug...brightness bug..My brightness doesn't seem to reduce..always at 100 no matter what i try..even on pressing the power button,back-light is still on in the background..was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction..i think i missed some libs..any ideas anyone..it's my first port for the cubot gt99..

This is the wrong thread for that, you can ask and find more info in porting tutorials here: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2123239

Okay, getting this error when compiling mediatek 6572 kernel:

check-modeming ...
LOG: out/target/product/ipro72_we_jb3_check-modem.log
==> [FAIL]

Then I check the log, and it says that the directory and modem image does not exist.

P.S. I'm working off of the full source and kernel source for mt6572 series wearables.

edit: I'm getting this when trying to build the recoveryimage. I've since been able to compile the kernel without issue.

Meanwhile, Motorola Brazil continues to promise there will be KitKat for their MT6575/MT6577 phones. They first promised it for the first half of 2014, now Q2 2014.

If it does happen (which, for me, is unlikely, given Mediatek's attention span and verifiable rumors of a successor to the D1), I wonder if the kernel source will be updated. Would help MT6577 developers a lot.

The wait is over..

With MTK's kernel source being a nightmare, I highly doubt this news.

If anyone wants cheap and cheerful, there's always the Snapdragon 400 option.

hey brothers the wait is over..now the sources of lenovo phones have been released officially bt lenovo...its available on their site...don't believe me...see this..http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=52008257
and it is real for sure...i have lenovo p700i's firmware

Hey guys, We are going to try something new for our china phones - cyanogenmod.

But we need some more devs to get everything going.

    For now we have:

-Github tree for Lenovo P700i(mediatek 6577, android 4.0.4, kernel 3.0.8)

-Lens_flare - original port author(may work with system folder and configs)

-some kernel source from other devices like liquid gallant

The main problem is getting adb to work that could help a lot on remaining development. For now even zygote not starting, but all partitions seems mounted successfully.

We need more devs (especially that could assemble working kernel for device), working with p700i may lead to following porting for other mtk devices, as sources are nearly the same.

    Lollipop on MT6577

    Hi there .

Just to let you know, that lollipop is now booting on ZTE v970 [MT6577- w/ ComBo-Chip MT6620]
With my custom 3.4.67 KK Kernel + some cherry-picks from the new MTK 3.10.54 LL Kernel

Still very early, baseband is recognized , but still needs a lot more work on Telephony, Platform, etc.

    ;)
