and if i may ask? this makes it easy to port KK to other MTK 6589 devices?
stop asking this, please
unless you dont have kernel source, you cant have kk

Because KK demand SELinux-enabled kernel, and unless you have the source-code, you can't add SELinux to your kernel.
Hello..i know this is the wrong thread to ask but this is the most active mtk-related thread + i asked in some other threads and no one answered so here it is...
am trying to port an mtk6589(micromax hd a116) rom to another mtk6589 (cubot gt99) and so far it boots, wifi, bt, gps, sms, 3g, usb are all working fine except for one bug...brightness bug..My brightness doesn't seem to reduce..always at 100 no matter what i try..even on pressing the power button,back-light is still on in the background..was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction..i think i missed some libs..any ideas anyone..it's my first port for the cubot gt99..
Actually lenovo P700i has Mediatek MT6577
May be rumor but still interesting

With MTK's kernel source being a nightmare, I highly doubt this news.
If anyone wants cheap and cheerful, there's always the Snapdragon 400 option.
I have also found a ROM running 4.2.2 for a mtk6577 phone with specs same as lenovo p700i...I'm no dev..can anyone port it?
