Thanks UnixSlayer. I am going to root my att s5. This root is going to stay even with att updates right?
Thanks
Sorry to revisit this if it has already been addressed but I got to post 20 and couldn't wait any longer so I jumped to the end of the thread to ask... Will this work on an AT&T GS4 SGH-I337 with 4.4.2 and Baseband I337UCUFNC1?
Again, I apologize if I'm being redundant but I really really want to root this thing.
Thanks in advance.
You should turn off, or freeze Security Policy Updates. AT&T already unrooted my phone yesterday using Geohot's apk. I had to reinstall it again. This time I turned off Security Policy Updates. Still rooted....

If you cannot answer these questions and still insist on rooting there is a high chance that you will later You hate me now for this post but you will thank me later.
I have the same device and service provider as you and I was at least 50 in line of being rooted upon release and att did no such thing my way. Also the files everyone else is talking about such as fwupdate and SMD are already removed on att note 3 after root. Not to seem skeptical but I'm confused on this one.

Not that I'm not appreciative but I didn't know an app I use all the time would no longer work on a rooted device... How do I undo this root process? Thanks!
Note.... my Security Policy Updates is turned off....

Where can I download Samsung kernel?Look at my tutorial here, just need to update the kernel, hope it will work for you!
Definitely invited: AT&T GS5, Verizon GS5, GS4 Active, Nexus 5
May have some troubles at the door but invited: AT&T/Verizon Note 3
Possibly invited: Every Android phone with a kernel build date < Jun 3
Stay tuned right here for updates. I'm coming for that bounty.
Will this brick my phone?
Most probably not. towelroot alone hasn't bricked a phone yet.
The stupid decisions you make once you have root are all your own however.
I rooted, what's next?
