Thanks so much for the update. The updates from Houstonn are the best. Why would you change kernels, I think he knows which one to choose:)

Oh, and openvpn connect has been broken ever since 4.4 beta 1 the last version that worked with openvpn connect was 4.3 beta 7. There was a 4.4 app update from openvpn which still doesnt work.

Here is a download site since the OP link is dead.

The 05/20 build was the last one with Houstonn's kernel. All of the PALegacy builds use a kernel based on the gl1tch kernel, which doesn't work great on some LGOG's.

I spoke to @houstonn and his personal life is far to attractive to pay attention to these details. he just may push the updates he does have.

cross your fingers for the good mans work

Do you know which LGOG work well and which do not with the built in gl1tch kernel? Some symptoms of the problems? All I noticed on my e971 is that openvpn's routing does not work at all with the 4.3 builds.

UPDATE: I re-read the thread since may 20 and there are some bugs listed. I never noticed those things on my e971 but I dont even have a sim card. I did notice the battery life is a lot worse. I am using 4.2 beta 7 right now, that is the last build with openvpn working but I doubt it is the kernel to blame.

I'm on an e970, so that may be the difference.

I don't know specifics, but like 1/20 times when I'd wake the phone up and the touch screen wouldn't respond at all until I forced it to reboot.

The e970 and e971 (rogers canada version of the e970) are the same except the e971 does not have an sd card slot. There may be a slight partition difference, I am not sure but basically they are the same hardware. I have never had the touch screen issue. Wonder what the difference is, the e971 is the more obscure and rare phone which I would guess is more likely to have issues. Phew, sounds like I got lucky on this one but I am curious why you would have that issue on the e970- maybe it is related to the sd cardslot.

The camera is unstable on 4.4 version since RC1. I need close and open again several times to take pictures :(

OK. Noticed some oddness with the 6/21 build of PA. The Mac address keeps changing after every reboot.

This is the best rom for Optimus G so far. My only complaint is battery drain...as soon i start using the phone the battery drains 1% every 1 or 2 minutes. Is there any workaround for this? Any other kernel maybe?

Same happens to mine.

What I've done is install trickster mod, and then use it to set the governor to "intellidemand" and turn "intelliplug" on. This has helped with the battery life. There could be a better combination of kernel settings, but I haven't had time to monkey around.

Quick Setting Tile

How do I add or remove quick settings tiles? I have searched the settings and have not found the setting. Thanks.

If you guys wanna try out Google Kitkat 4.4 I'll let you guys be the first... It's alittle buggy and not everything works.. main not working is WIFI but if you want to test it out to see what it's all about.. LTE will work if you go to the dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#* and set the network to LTE.. remember this is pure google aosp not custom rom.

The WiFi issue is cause i didn't update the drivers in the kernel but I update the device tree part merged with 4.4. Didn't have time. I'll fix some more up maybe after work today.

the ui is alitle glitch but hey what more can u ask for ....

    download rom
    download gapps

both are at this link http://downloads.codefi.re/houstonn/kitkat

Also I did really want to update the 4.3 roms due to 4.4 releasing. Once pa is ready for new sources I'll have a new pa with 4.4 . I don't know how long carbon will take but if it takes some time I'll update it to the most recent 4.3. I've been very busy on the G2. Its seems I'm the only one that pumps out 3 ROMs that works for 5 carriers . lol

This is an paste from Harsh from his thread here
Well, our cpu are made at some quality standards. We have 4 different quality of cpu for apq8064 from Qualcomm. so depending on which one is on your phone it selects frequency table from slow, nominal, fast and faster.
Google kernel source have same frequency table for fast and faster. So those with faster are not getting their extra advantage :)

You can identify you CPU chip by below command in terminal.
adb shell dmesg | grep PVS
It will give you some output as given example below

    Code:
adb shell dmesg | grep PVS
    [ 0.873920] acpuclk-8064 acpuclk-8064: ACPU PVS: FAST

And faster binned CPU has lot to do with UV, when you look as frequency table of faster, it is already preconfigured to have lower voltages than fast, and lot lower than slow binned.
Phones with faster binned should have better battery than slower binned phone out of box without any other configuration.
And for UV its already hardcoded and can be adjusted by System Tuner app further. And OC I am not willing to add. ( I don't think there's any gain in running our phones hotter with higher voltages by OC'ing)

    default voltages for SLOW:

    A 4.3 RootBox sounds delicious.

I've merge most that I can already. Since we use Google's sources too and they are up to date. Cm has been hard at their sources. I'm waiting on lead dev Bajee as I don't use all of sources and some of my own mods and my separate repos. I'm waiting on his so I can sync mine with official so that we can have the least incompatibility as possible. I will continue to work on what I can and the kernel as well. Thanks for patience. It will pay off :)
