Hi, do you have a sim PIN lock on boot?
AFAIK, turn airplane mode on/off will NOT ask PIN again, only reboot does.
Perhaps it's the cause?
Wow I've been away for a while myself. Guess I'm staying with 5/25 for now
I just put my Razr on the m8 build and that works great!Yeah, me too chinkster. I have been peeking in now and then for a decent rom and there, ...aren't any.
I went back to 06/29 and it is not really good. Screen is so laggy is is uncomfortable to use the phone. Subsequent builds are all worse. Michael always kept us with a good working rom and he doesn't have time for it anymore. I kind of wish I stayed with some of those earlier June builds. If you have late May, that is probably pretty good. My Samsung Tablet has CM11 and rarely is there an update for it and it runs quite well. Wish I could say the same for the phone. Well, let's just sit in the bushes and wait for something good to come along.
@stargo I finally did a clean install of CM11 2014/07/21 nightly and PA GApps (2014/07/20 stock). I also went back to Trebuchet for home/launcher (instead of Google Now launcher).I currently have nearly no time to work on CM
Just a stab in the dark: Can you please try changing the cpufreq-governor in Settings->Performance->Processor to ondemand and see if you can reproduce the reboot? I'm sometimes seeing them too but can't get any sort of logfile, so it's very hard to debug. I just know that it is a kernel-panic, but don't know where...
Regards,
Michael
I have been away for a while so I do not know the nature of the reboots. But when stargo asks for logs, he needs the dmesg file immediately after the event,
cat dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg.txt
You have to grab the dmesg file within hours or new data will fill the mesg file, pushing out the older data. You can enter the above command from a Terminal window.
And system logs filtered to show the event. Use a log reader like CatLog and in the Filter box, try some terms relevant to the event such as power, reboot, kernel, and anything you can think of that might work. If power for a filter shows the power service shutting down, look at the date and time of the event, if it coincides with the time/date of the reboot, then you have something. Save filtered log to file.
It is hard to "know" what the search filter word should be and I wish that stargo would give us filter terms, but power seems to be a good one to start with. Read the details, see if it has to do with your issues.
Good luck, Dwillian! :good:
Yeah i had that problem before getting my gs5 then I restored the razr to stock and re rooted and everthing and but the m8 on it amazing now!I do not much care for the snapshots because they always lag behind the nightlies. But the nightlies have been such a disastor for the past month that maybe it would not be so bad to install and use a snapshot. Heck, I am not progressing at all on this rom, stuck in the mud for over a month. Screen lag is so bad that I am constantly waiting for the screen to light up every time I wake it. Incoming phone calls can be particular troublesome as I can lose a call just waiting for the screen to light. Thanks for the tip, Caleb. I am looking for answers and none of them are progressive and moving forward at this point. Just trying to get a phone that does not suck. And that has been particularly difficult to do in over a month. Well, the snapshot is another choice that might fill the bill for the interim. :good:

So far phone seems to be working much better. I am using the default CM performance settings. Lag much reduced. Battery life seems improved. No reboots to report (although I haven't used google navigation extensively yet).
I'm going to stay on this configuration for a few more days. If my phone spontaneously reboots I will collect a log file following Ohmsters instructions. Then I will switch cpufreq-govenor to ondemand and collect another log file if it reboots.
Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.
Hello everyone. You don't know me but my name is Brian. I've been a friend of Shaun's known here as JakeDHS07 for many years. He's been apart of this community and working with the CM ROM for years. I come here regretfully to inform all of you that Shaun has passed away and is no longer with us. I want you all to know that he spoke very highly of his work here and all the people he associated with. I am currently trying to decide what to do with his old account as I do not have a XDA of my own and am looking to help out in his stead. He was a good man and sadly taken from us far too soon. He was only 25. Here's to you Shaun. Anyone is welcome to post any messages they would like and I will be sure to forward them to his family. I'm sure they would love to see how much their son was appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Here's a real low-tech place to start: pocket lint in the earphone jack! Believe it or not, this is one of the most common causes of audio problems with our phones. Since disassembly is a mortal pain, power down and use a tooth pick and compressed air to make sure there's no foreign matter in there before you spend time exploring other options. Since audio routing is software controlled, unlike the old time normalling contacts in headphone jacks of the past, a bad connection or low resistance short can really mess with you. Good luck, and let us know if we need to scratch our heads further. [emoji40]Is anyone having audio problems? In specifics: audio will rarely play, have to fight it. Play Music says its playing but have no audio in speaker and headphones. Even some notification sounds don't play. What could be happening? Need information? Tell me what you want. I'm on 07/22 but was happening in previous builds. Unsure where it started.
REPORT: Audio trough usb in car dock is not working anymore, it worked for sure with May nightlies, but with the newer is not working anymore (or my dock failed but it seems unlikely), unfortunately I can't say from which nightly onwards it stopped working since I've not used the car for a while.
On top, car mode is not triggered anymore when plugged in car dock.
Am I the only one with this problem?

It's been working fine for me with the July nightlies. Well my podcasts come through ok but phonecall audio does not so I have to switch to speaker mode (not ideal) or pull it off the car dock.

Sad to hear but glad to know it's not just me. I keep pushing on hoping the wake/lag issues will resolve. I love this ROM. It has kept me from having to upgrade my phone! I was going to do a full wipe to see if that helped but it doesn't look like that is the issue.

sd_shadow said:This is what I do to restore ONLY currently installed apps using Titanium Backup:
Make a TB backup of your current apps.
When you are ready to restore go to Batch Actions -> Hit RUN on 'Restore missing apps with data' -> Deselect all. Then on the bottom of the screen there is an option: Order by: switch that to Backup Date. It will re-order your apps and the ones on the top will be the ones you made the latest backup of. Just start selecting down the list and I'm sure you will know when you start seeing apps that you have not used and will know when to stop your selections. After you are done with your selections - restore.
