Thanks for the work! Can we use KK bootloader still or does it need JB like the unofficial CM12 builds? I tried today's build for VS980 and got a bootloop. TWRP said phone wasn't rooted after the flash finished and asked if I wanted to flash supersu so I said yes but it didn't do anything just booted up (well, into a bootloop)

Please don't use the SuperUser from TWRP (it doesn't work on these builds). You must use the betas of SuperSU v2.30+ from @Chainfire located here: http://xdaforums.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133

Please use the KK baseband and the PA GAPPS 2.0 micro-modular alpha package. This can be found in the PA GAPPS thread, I'm sure you all have it by now. If not, a quick Google search or thread search should get it to you.

If you got a bootloop, can you please grab a recovery log?

Tried again with latest, same issue. I attached a recovery log. I'm using KK baseband, 5.0 PA GAPPS, latest twrp, the SuperSU in your link, and doing a complete wipe before flashing. I don't know if it's normal after a bootloop, but even after wiping everything (including system) and trying to restore my back up I still get a bootloop. Only fix is to do a fresh flash of the last 4.4 beta. Hope this helps. Thanks

I went through the last 40 posts, couldn't find anything solid, can someone give me a quick overview on how I need to flash this? As in, what do I need to flash before the ROM itself? A specific baseband file etc.?

I'm sorry, but this isn't very much to go on... Be more specific. What variant? What build? What baseband?

Which version of PA you want to use?
  • legacy builds (4.6 Beta4 & Beta5) can be found here, if you have D802 don't flash 10-23 or 10-22
  • @houstonn test builds (4.6 Beta6) can be found here
  • PA 5.0 Alpha1 by @MikeCriggs can be found here and more info here

Please just flash the ROM zip only and let me know if it boots.

Wipe Dalvik, System, Data, and Cache. All of it. Twice. Thrice.

Also, it's hard to keep up with your usernames. Please use the bug report form in the link I provided in the post I just linked to several times over the past few pages.

If you have questions... Use the search tool and read back at least five pages. If you don't find an answer, and you looked REALLY REALLY hard, then post.

These builds are public for TESTING. If you guys don't report bugs properly, then I'll have to make them private.

Please remember that this is a site by developers FOR developers. End users getting involved should not be doing anything but testing and reporting issues PROPERLY.

I don't mean to be stern, but the amount of bloat I'm getting is ridiculous and impeding the furthering of these SIX device trees I have to maintain.

Also, stop asking about DT2W (DOUBLE-TAP TO WAKE). It'll be ready when it's ready.

Best regards,
Slightly annoyed Criggs

Didn't work. This is the VS980 build. I can submit to the bug report if you'd rather I did that.

So sorry about that, feel silly forgetting to do all that.

I would like to flash your Lollipop test build, I'm running a CM11 ROM (official), about a 2 weeks' old build.

Here is some info:

Thanks!

Flash the proper KK (LG) Baseband (use google), the ROM, GApps and have fun. @MikeCriggs posted his builds on the last page. (http://drdevs.com/devs/mikecriggs/aospa/d802/ & http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=57078626&postcount=12831)

New builds are building . 4.4 beta1 . you guys will be the first non nexus device with pa using 4.4 beta1 unless released unofficially by a non pa member. You need to completely do a clean flash. Last night merges were over 300 files with about 20000 lines of code , so it took me a few hours.

Also the bakedin kernel is my custom kernel with no changes in display or gpu . I've rebased it until we know exactly what the issues are. What I don't understand is why are other ROMs getting them 2 if they are on DR's kernel source. (If they are) .

I've looked at lg's complete stock comparing the variants panel dtsi files and although some are same some are different. I'll investigate more.

I truely believe that a huge main issue is that we are still using 4.2 bootloader since its the only way we can use Loki and have custom recovery . bootloaders and our bootstack plays a huge roll in all updates. Also KitKat changes to bootstack has every bit to do with display panel related stuff. That's also why we can't boot the new kernel on the 4.2 bootstack without adding the codes that jackpotcalvvin discovered to boot the new kernel. If u look at hammerhead it even comes with newer bootstack or some of it when 4.4.3 and that's only a jump from 4.4.2 .

There are a lot of play when a kernel dev does a kernel. Everything needs to align up properly. Like if a kernel dev builds off caf based and the ROM doesn't build with caf base it mostly isn't 100% compatible. Also even updating GPU drivers need the depending repos built along with proper blobs supporting them. Just like using older camera drivers in kernel requires older binary blobs.

By anyways enjoy new release and I'll look more into this.
