you can go back to 4.4.4 but you have to use mfastboot 1.2 and you have to skip 2 steps

do not flash gpt.bin and motoboot.img when downgrading
Nice I have one important query now. I hope someone have a answer here.

Since this is soak ota, this is something confidentially official ota process. Now if we XDA users flash this over Brazilian stock then would we further be able to get out of soak and update with official ota...?

Because official stock L ota will obviously based on the fingerprints and signature verification from official 4.4.4 stock. And it might not accept to update from soak. Because soak people may get some other ota to get into L.

This is very important because no one would like to remain deadlocked under soak for having attempted unofficially :)

Good Query !
I was too thinking about the same ...

According to me Official OTA should arrive . But then considering the fact that after updating through soak test we will already have upgraded bootloader and other stuff , it may be the case that Official testers might receive another update from Moto separately. (so in order to come out from deadlock that OTA must also be leaked ). Then again I doubt if Moto will take so much efforts to release updates seperately , it might be a unified update.

But worst case scenario, users can always flash the official OTA that all users will receive within few weeks, since the fastboot is working (and also TWRP works).
And that won't be a problem since all users who are flashing this are obviously experienced users as it requires many steps (converting and all).

We may get a concrete solution from moto g2 thread since they had soak test ota release for a while and now they are also getting official Ota.

In Moto X downgrading is possible for soak test, sometimes bootloader fails to downgrade, but it doesn't cause any problems*

Guys, when I "release" the OTA, my only desire was help the XT1033 brazilian users. Sorry if sounds a little bit arrogant but I'm not responsible for any bricked device or any thing beyond this. If you tried, and you aren't a Brazilian user, you was on your own. Others tried and warned out the risk, but you tried anyway. Please, don't crucify me for your wrongs and misses.

Thx to all comprehensive people of this forum.
    9
This is ridiculous. How can such an OTA go out to the wild in this buggy and sluggish, slow state? OK, I get it, things like these should be expected since this is highly experimental, but seeing no warnings about 'updated bootloader (?)' and 'screen flickering when reverting to kitkat' on the main post drives me crazy.
Please help fellow Moto G users by simply removing the OTA links / warning them about the dangerous software because there's a lot of bugs about CPU, RAM management and battery life problems. Anyone who installed this update will want to revert back to KitKat ASA- wait, you can't; by installing the update, you updated your bootloader, which means you're stuck on this software. Congratulations!
And even if you could revert back to KitKat somehow (some people here did), you'd get screen flickering problems and you'd have to install the update again since I'm pretty sure noone would like a flickering screen.
Hey, but if you really want to install this update (I don't know who would after hearing / seeing all this), please learn how to show hidden controls on stock recovery so you don't have to try a method that isn't working (Thanks to the OP) and look for a working method yourself. Here's how you do it: You open the bootloader screen, select recovery, hold Volume Down key for 10~ seconds, then start holding the Power button too; keep holding them for 3 more seconds and voila, you should see the hidden controls appear.
And if you really want to give Lollipop a try, please don't even try downloading this; actually, exit this thread right after you read this and Google the following: "Anerik CM12 Moto G". Click on the first result, and install the ROM using TWRP. I swear, it's much more faster and stable than this update + you can revert to KitKat whenever you want.

    You said it !
    Totally agree with you !
I've posted this before on this thread and other lollipop threads .
OP should warn people about this Bootloader thingy .
And impatient peeps should should also hold their horses until a solution is found.

Totally agree with this, can you please copy n paste this post in all OTA install threads...?

    Sent from my XT1032

It's a soak test Lollipop OTA update for XT1033 Brazilian firmware. It's supposed to have bugs that has to be fixed before the final update for the masses. That's what soak test is about. If you want a stable ROM wait for the final update for your exact model of Moto G instead of flashing the Brazilian ROM and updating it to Lollipop with the OTA file.

Motorola clearly stated that you can't downgrade your bootloader if you update via OTA and it will have issues if you try to return to KitKat.

Stop your igrorance and know the facts before complaining about the beta stage software that was out for testing.
    8
Wait, so you fail to do the homework that is required, or simply read....Then you come asking for help, due to your failure, then address Members in this fashion. How about just saying thank you or take your device back to Stock with what it came with and be done. But asking for assistance then replying in this manner, that will not get you any....

Now there is a lot in the OP to read and understand, how about you take your time....there is a lot provided there.

if you can not help us, then shut up
I do not need with all the crap you.
you are lucky, but you need not say so

but yours which was very inappropriate, please respect to us.
iam unable to boot my phone on bootloader.
only 2 steps that can help us
    1. bring my moto g to motorola services center (need more mooney)
    2. wait new mbm-ci or someone create singleimage from android 5.0 (it takes patience because it will be long)

there is no way other than that

you said iam insult? hahahahaha :D lol
I would not say that if it was not he who started.

I've done it a few times way but to no avail.

    and your problem is ?

This not needed. your highlight in big red....
    8
    Download MFastboot v2

extract the Mfastboot files where the 4.4.4 firmware files are

open the command prompt inside that firmware folder (hold shift and right click - open command window here)

and skip the 2 steps (partition and motoboot) during flashing

enter each command one at a time

    mfastboot flash boot boot.img
    mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
    mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
    mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
    mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
    mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
    mfastboot erase modemst1
    mfastboot erase modemst2
    mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
    mfastboot erase cache
    mfastboot erase userdata
    mfastboot reboot

thats it, your phone should boot normallly, however you will experience screen flickering
wait until the phone boots up, and go through the setup. let the phone go idle / deep sleep by locking the phone (single press on the power button) let it idle for a minute or so, wake up the phone, you should see no more flickering

NOTE: DO NOT DOWNGRADE TO 4.4.2 FIRMWARE, ONLY 4.4.4
