Presenting PacROM 5.0 for the HTC DESIRE 816

UNOFFICIAL VERSION
Notes:I have the Virgin Mobile model. It should work on other variants as well.
This is BETA and CM12 is not completely finished. This is based off of Cyan12. I will NOT be taking any bug reports. If you have a bug you would like to report, it should probably go in the CM12 section. I'm open to feedback and such but if this thread gets spammed with bug submissions, complaining, etc, I will close the thread,remove all links and I will not continue to update the ROM on a weekly basis.

I will be updating the ROM every Saturday and/or every other Saturday,whenever I have time and adding the new link into the original post.

I don't work on the rom itself, so I can't/won't fix any rom related bugs (e. g. wrong translations).
I use my own kernel and device trees. I modify only the device trees and other needed trees for now.
If you have any questions about rom related things (features or something) search for it first.
I don't mind if people ask if they can't find something immediately, but often a quick search on Google or in the forum is much faster, than posts or new threads.

so i seem to be having a problem with resurrection remix and pacrom both lollipop, on this device, mostly it gets stuck on the setup screen and says settings has stopped or screen goes black or gets stuck on sim setup and when in recovery it says system isn't mounted. i dont know why. btw using twrp 2.8.5.0 htc desire 816 a5_chl virgin mobile also happens every time i flash one of them.

Try using CWM and make sure to wipe evrything. (/system, /data, /boot, /cache and dalvik)

Maybe try a different recovery? I dont have any mounting issues with cwm

Honestly, I'm surprised with the stability of this ROM at such an early stage in development. It's got the usual bugs (a5dug) for anyone planning to flash this. Data, SMS etc, but other than that this ROM is good to go.

Yeah the only issue I've noticed so far is some apps (looking at play store and snapchat mainly) don't like to work with Wi-Fi on this ROM, but that could be for a variety of reasons. looks like cm12 is getting less stable recently though so it'll be interesting to see how PAC and RR work/progress

I tried this ROM on a5_DWG. Its very smooth. No issues so far. I am using only one sim. The only issue I faced is that people can't hear my voice in calls. Can someone help?

    So I haven't really played much on this yet, but when I started on it, something didn't feel right. So I started doing some digging. Jackpot! Found a way to get way better performance and battery. And I mean alot better. Most of the power saving options built into qualcomm chipsets aren't even enabled.
    So to start you will need kernel adiutor from play store

    Firstly. In the cpu section, change governor to interactive (it's way better and smoother on our newer devices than on demand, much much nicer to the battery as well.(ondemand been around since the 80s and meant for pc configurations more than anything else. Interactive allows scaling to more steps of cpu frequency, so it use less power to complete tasks. And the cpu spends more time at lower frequencies, using less power as well.
    Also switch multi core power saving to aggressive. This makes the cpu group tasks into the smallest amount of cpu use needed. Hence less cpu cores active, and hence, reap the battery reward!

    Next under cpu hotplugging, turn mp decision on. Thus let's the cpu cores that aren't needed to turn off dynamically instead if idling at 300 mhz, now only one core will stay awake to run the phone when it isn't needed to use them all. Huge huge powersaving and even more battery reward.

    Next under io scheduler, change read ahead to 2048 for both internal and external.
    Finally under misc controls, change tcp congestion algorithm to Reno. (also newer and faster than cubic (again around since 80s)
    Make sure you set all to apply at boot.

    Finally in development options in main settings, change all the animation scales to . 25 for a super quick and snappier feel. And it's a whole new beast! :good:

    Huge increase in smoothness and battery is great now. Dunno why these aren't set by default. Usually are. Anyway. Hope this helps someone. Cheers! Thanks for sharing this rom with us all

    PacROM update build finally finished. Will upload after work tonight.

    Weekly build should be up in about 85-90 minutes from now.

    Edit: The build just failed with an error relating to the Pac ROM source. I'll have to sync, rebuild it tomorrow and then upload. This is not something that I can fix.
