When I exit from recovery, I get this message:
Root Access Possibly Lost Fix?

THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE

1. YES fix root (/system/xbin/su)

2. NO do not fix

Is this normal?

Black screen after install

Hi guys!

I was offered an old S4 mini phone and wanted to upgrade it to more a recent RoM.
I started by following the step by step directions from the thread "http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2364980".
I did kill the Kies processus that was running in background, and disabled by anti-virus while doing the update.
After a couple of attempts (mixing up and down), I managed to get a "Pass!" in Odin and a successful update of my phone.
It re-booted, and showed the yellow message "Set Warranty Bit : kernel", then I heard the starting music, then... black screen. It is like the phone boots, but does not display anything.

I wiped cache, but nothing changed.

In Odin mode, it shows:
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9195
PRODUCT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0x30
BOOTLOADER AP SWREV: 2
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable

I admit I did not pay attention to the warning indicating "NOT FOR CM OR OTHER AOSP BASED ROMS", and that I can't tell which ROM is installed.
I searched this thread for "black screen" to find solutions from previous unfortunate (stupid) guys, but did not find any.
Thus my call for help...
Thanks in advance.

I don't know if it's normal but i had the same issue with cwm. It's seems awkward to see this messege everytime you reboot. I changed to twrp 2.8.7.0 http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2678420 two moths ago, i am very satisfied and no awkward messeges at all.

You must have your device bricken. Follow this to unbrick your device. http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2751224 You follow this process: How to unbrick a bootloop and stuck at splash screen brick

!: If you use Odin v3.10.6, make sure that you go to the pit tab and open the pit file.

And boom, you have the stock rom 4.2.2.

Root http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 : I suggest you to prefer twrp 2.8.7.0, it's seems better to me than cwm 6.0.5.1. Here's twrp if you like http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2678420
!: If you use Odin v3.10.6, make sure that you go to the options tab and uncheck F.Reset Time. (check step 5 for rooting)

And finally, it will be wiser choice a stable version, not a beta. I bricked my phone trying a beta one, which was in early development.

gt-9195 vs gt-9195i

Which one do you have? If you have the gt-9195i you need to use twrp, cwm wont work.

Not able to enter recovery mode after odin download

Hello,
I am trying to root my brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.
After a successfull odin download my phone is rebooting, but I am unable to enter recovery mode even though I am immediately holding volume up and home buttons after it vibrates. The phone just starts as nothing has happend. If I press and hold home, volume down and power after reboot the download screen appears again. There seems to be no chance to enter recovery mode any more. Only if I install the original firmware using Kies I can enter recovery.

Does anyone have an idea how to proceed?

I appreciate your help.

hello arco, how to apply 6.0.5.1 after root with 6.0.5.0 and rootkitv2 , sorry for newby question, but is this the same procedure again or with ODIN just 6.0.5.1
and do i have to wipe/reset data after that. Thanks

Just flash the recovery again with Odin. No need to wipe or root again.

Hello, i hope someone can answer this question for me because i have looked everywhere and cant find the answer. I have ordered an s3mini on contract with o2. When it comes i am pretty sure it will have a locked bootloader. If it does can i unlock the bootloader? If i cant unlock the bootloader can i still root the phone and install customs roms? Thanks in advance for your answer.

I believe regardless if the phone is locked or not you will be able to root it and put a custom rom on it. An old, old phone I had was locked to carrier and manage to root so it was unlocked.

What does SuperSU say within Android UI? Does if find the binary or say it's out of date?

Try installing this zip from recovery (as for me did not work from SuperSU program)
    http://xdaforums.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133

If does not work try redoing the whole installation with this file last.

GT-I9195I has a completely different SoC, so it's not just a matter of recompiling to get it working. It requires a completely new device repo and kernel. In other words, it's like 2 different devices.
