Does anyone go without a protector? I've been reading about the screen qualities and some people just go without these days and I'm tempted to go naked with the protectors being so crap

Since May, no screen protector here and no scratch so far.

---------- Post added at 08:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:59 AM ----------

Just took some quickly. With case and without case..

thanks for the pictures.
Strangely I cant find that tempered glass on their website. Do you have a link ?

TIA

Only negative I've found so far is the abundance of dot-matrix seems to be much more than others, but it's only noticeable when the screen is off.

Funny, I have seen your pictures and you apparently have a different version of the ultimate shield screen protector. Mine has no rounded cutout for the samsung logo on the top and my screenprotector has matrix dot but it is practically invisible, even when turned off or in direct sunlight. The sensitivity issues around the edges seem to be fixed in your version. I still need to press a bit more on the edges to get it to work.

I would really appreciate it if this kind of (known) vendors would put a versionnumber on their screenprotectors. That would help us a lot in determining which is better.

May be your s7 is at fault......mine and many others appear to be

I continually get missed touches and I am not alone. I have tried a few different protectors now, glass and plastic and I personally think it is the logo that is the problem......YES SAMSUNG has sold some of us rubbish.

Check google people are having problems everywhere with this inferior crap

A GOOD OPTION: amFilm (http://www.amazon.com/Protector-Cove...reen+protector) 3.3 Stars, has been improved several times. Seems to be a pretty good option.

Hi guys,
Just my 2 cents about the amFilm Cover Screen, and I have to say that it is not a good option :(
- no more sensibility in both sides : unable to open the taskbar menu when in land mode, realy difficult to write text whitout mistakes (letters on the sides are not responsive)
- oleophobic ? Not at all, worse than the original screen
- dot matrix and 'click' effet still present.

Really disappointed about this one... Still looking for a better option, any tips is welcome :)

Finally!! Been using the stupid plastic protectors since Day 1. I'm quite OCD. They have been bugging me due to all the scratches on them. I took the chance and bought the ultimate shield. I'll give a thumbs up for it!!

There is absolutely no loss of sensitivity. A slight hint of haze. Really slight. A hint of tapping sounds too, again really faint. Regardless, it is way better than the plastic ones with all the scratches. Most importantly, the oleophobic coating is awesome. Smooth glide! They didn't have gold though. I had to settle for black. I don't think it would survive a drop face down though.

Not 10/10 but still better than plastic!

Happy days! :)

It is by far one of the few best tempered glass products for S7 and works with most of phone cases, but there're few "flaws":
- It doesn't adhere to the screen
- Very hard to get button lights aligned correctly
- It doesn't produce tapping sounds but I do believe it exists, because you can feel still a space between the screen protector and phone's screen
- Haven't tried to peel it off and reapply, but suspect there'll be residue because it's non-adherence screen protector.
- It flat and unbendable glass, so you can imagine gap or invisible bubble under black/white area.
- It does have "a slight hint of haze" although I don't really mind it. I'll have to find chance to test it under strong sunlight.

I got the rainbow effect today though. However, I think it was due to the cold air. The moment I stepped out in the sun, the rainbow thing disappeared. Anyway, when I got home, I lifted a tiny bit on the side to force as much as air out as possible. I'll update again if it reappears. The screen protector is barely 24 hours old.

Purchased the Ultimate Shield based on reviews in this thread, should arrive here next week.
Previously tried the Spigen GlastR, which doesn't stick to the edges and is therefore de facto useless. I hope I can get a refund.

Thinking about getting an Ultimate Shield screen protector. Seems to be the best of a bad bunch (amazing that no one has come out with a perfect full screen protector for this phone yet). Has anyone tried one with a Spigen Tough Armour case? Also, for those of you have been using this protector for a while, are you having any problems with it?

Alright guys... so I have been using my Ultimate Shield protector for about 4 days now... Here's my little review.

Fit: it fits perfectly, all of the holes and edges aligned well. I am glad this isn't a curve protector, it's pretty much a flat glass cover.

Feel: It's smooth, not as smooth as the original surface, but pretty darn close to it.

Sensitivity: So far so good, I haven't noticed much sensitivity issues... maybe <5%?

Cleaning: This is the only problem. Like many screen protector for the s7, this only has sticky edges on all of the sides, and some of the sides aren't really fully "sticking." The screen protector stays on well and doesn't lift up. However, I'm a germ freak and clean my phone with alcohol swabs very frequently since I work at the hospital...and I have noticed that the alcohol is getting between the screen and the protector.... Sensitivity has gone down since....

Just got the Ultimate Shield for my S7.

The good: Easy to attach, fits well.

The bad: Sensitivity. Perhaps I got a bad one? - but sensitivity suffers quite noticably with the Ultimate Shield on. While before the screen was super-sensitive, now it frequently requires a couple of swipes before recognizing my input. I am considering taking it off again because of this. :(

No doubt a hard glass causes some sensitivity to get lost, but this is more than I expected. I also have an iPhone 6 Plus with an Anker tempered glass protector with 9H hardness, and in that case the screen remains super-responsive unlike with this Ultimate Shield protector.

Back to square one trying to find a decent glass protector for my S7.

Just ordered the ultimate shield. Am I correct in assuming I won't be able to shower with my phone anymore? Worried about water getting trapped between screen and protector

i just bought about 6 different tempered glass and liquid screen protectors. And I found one to be amazing! it covers everything on the front of the S7. it even has the Samsung logo on it. looks amazing. I am using it with otterbox symmetry case. got it on ebay for
$7.99 heres the link:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/19182191935...49&var=490882087531&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Does it have dot matrix under sun?
Does it get dust under screen after using for 2-3 weeks?

Hope this works well for you, the reviews don't seem very good.
Negative past month: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...ch=negative&interval=30&_trkparms=negative_30
Neutral past month: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...hich=neutral&interval=30&_trkparms=neutral_30

For comparison look at the reviews for the Ultimate Shield on Ebay(I bought through their website since it was a few bucks cheaper)
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...ch=positive&interval=30&_trkparms=positive_30

I have had the Ultimate Shield for over 2 weeks with a UAG case. This is a tight fit and I was slightly off to the right side, the case on the left side has pushed a small bit of the edge of the protector up as this case is a very snug fit. Sensitivity is better than the other 2 glass screen protectors and about on par with glass screen protectors I've had on other phones. I was cooking and had a small spice bottle fall about 2 feet and just catch the phone up by the upper speaker and the protector has a crack there, not enough to bother me to replace the protector but when I do I will be buying another Ultimate Shield....and hope to get the alignment perfect this time.

Hi there! Wow, this thread has really taken off. Sorry for my absence. I've just read through about 15 pages of comments, and there have been quite a few additions, nearly every single one being a disappointment, but the only talked about in a positive light was the amFilm. I'll put that one on the top of the list for now. If there's one that has been talked about heavily, I'll do my best to continue to update here. Again, sorry for my absence, and if anyone finds any other strong ones, please send me a PM. Those actually give me a notification. Thanks!!! Seeing lots of talk about the Zagg protector, also that it broke for someone. Dot matrix is bad on it.

A GOOD OPTION: amFilm (http://www.amazon.com/Protector-Cov...&sr=8-120&keywords=galaxy+s7+screen+protector) 3.3 Stars, has been improved several times. Seems to be a pretty good option.

    OLD POST:
The S7’s edges are a little curved, so it will be hard to find a perfect glass screen protector- most of them will give a halo effect, or they will only lay on the flat surface of the screen, leaving the curved edges exposed. I wanted to start a thread where we can post glass screen protectors for the S7 that offer good quality, and good protection. I’ve done a little bit of research that I would like to share with you here:

    1) Full Screen Coverage Glass Screen Protectors:

    a. Zagg
    i. http://www.zagg.com/us/en_us/shop-by-device/galaxy-s7-accessories/
    ii. No info on availability
    iii. No info on price
iv. Glass seems to be nicely curved to fit the entire phone. Works with S7 & S7 Edge- they have different models for each, it seems. A Thread was posted on XDA saying that a Zagg protector was not very good-- not sure if it's the same product, but here's a link to the thread: http://xdaforums.com/galaxy-s7/accessories/zagg-glass-screen-protector-t3331065 - (Thanks, Macguyver) And according to TheLonePoster, Zagg is giving a halo effect, similar to the experience of a screen protector for the Nexus 6.

    b. amFilm (Thanks nest75068, bastage)
    i. http://www.amazon.com/Protector-Cov...120&keywords=galaxy+s7+screen+protector+glass
    ii. Available March 11th
    iii. $8.99
iv. 2.3 stars-- dot matrix, some issues with non-adhering edges, "clicking" when touching the screen. 2.3 isn't a good rating at all, but in comparsion to some of these other companies, it's not a bad one to use until better ones come out.

    c. SinHong
    i. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CHWTNY2
    ii. Available now
iii. $25.99 Free Shipping, but ships from China, so it will take a while to receive.
    iv. Still has no reviews.

    d. IQShield thanks, TehPirate_
    i. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BIH1HOQ
    ii. In Stock April 6th
    iii. $5.95 + $2.98shipping
iv. Recommended by TehPirate_, as good brand reputation, but as it stands, there is no clear stipulation about whether or not this is full screen coverage. Product is grouped with other products, so we won't be able to tell for a while if this is good or bad. For now, this is on the bottom of the "Good" thread, until otherwise stated. UPDATE: 65% low quality reviews from FakeSpot (http://fakespot.com/product/iq-shie...e-shield-d6c14fa5-59a8-41db-9b68-df6c7cbbe360)

    e. Flipacase (UK) Thanks, lunaminica
    i. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01CRSD446?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
    ii. Available Now
    iii. 9.99
iv. No reviews yet, will update when lunaminica updates comment. Looks to be full screen coverage.

    f. Coral Thanks, LORD19191
    i. https://www.coralguard.com/products...-Ships-April-1st/p/63470736/category=16072118
    ii. Available now, ships 3/22
    iii. $29.99
iv. From a youtube video, looks pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL-9u0dnzuk
    2) Flat Surface (Partial Coverage) Glass Screen Protectors:

    a. iSmooth
    i. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Tempered-Protector-Protects-Scratches/dp/B01ALAR50Q
    ii. $14.97/ Prime Shipping
    iii. Available 3/26/16
iv. Has good cutouts, but does not cover the complete screen, has Halo effect on the edges. Here is a customer review with an image: www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R24T8GCDIIC5HI
Also, this is grouped with other phones- but this has a plethora of negative recent reviews- might be a good idea to stay away.

    b. iCarez
    i. http://www.amazon.com/iCarez-Tempered-Protector-Anti-Scratch-Replacement/dp/B01AFW792E
    ii. Available March 15th
    iii. $9.95
iv. Note: "I have the regular S7 and the icarez tempered. The screen on the 7 has slightly rolled edges and the protector doesn't not adhere to the edges. " - thanks marshrunner757
The images seem to be S6, not S7. Not sure how much the screen protector covers.
Also, this is in a product variation with six other screen protectors, so we are not going to be able to see the real reviews, if they are good or bad.
    UPDATE: 1.4 stars. Bad product.

    c. CellBee
    i. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CDONCXM?psc=1
    ii. Available March 15th
    iii. $7.99/ Free Shipping
iv. Note: The images seem to be S6, not S7. Cannot determine about the fit, but I can’t guarantee any fit. Still no reviews

    d. Bodyguardz
    i. http://www.bodyguardz.com/screenguardz-pure-glass-screen-protector-for-samsung-galaxy-s7.html
    ii. $39.95 / Free Shipping
    iii. Available March 11th
iv. Seems quite pricey for a flat screen protector. Seems like a good product, but I’m doubtful that it justifies its price.

    e. Sparin.
    i. http://www.amazon.com/Protector-Tempered-Bubble-Free-Hardness-Scratch-resistant/dp/B019MPC6AU
    ii. Available March 20th
    iii. $9.59/ Free Shipping
iv. Based on the 3rd image, it seems that this one will only lay on the flat surfaces of the phone. Another note- at the moment it has two shilled reviews. "Free in exchange for an unbiased review..."

    f. SuperShieldz (thanks TehPirate_, mklpickle)
    i. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A4UJLPU
    ii. NOT AVAILABLE
    iii. N/A price
iv. "Has halo effect, cut outs aren't great, and worst of all, effects the touch screen sensitivity. Actually have to press down to get notifications to come down from top, and messes with typing fast. Also the menu and back buttons." Edit: several one star reviews-- Avoid this product. 1.3 Stars

    g. AERB
    i. http://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Pr...1-5&keywords=galaxy+s7+screen+protector+glass
    ii. Available 3/26/16
    iii. $9.99
iv. Openly admits to not being full screen-- reviews verify not full coverage. EDIT: A lot of poor reviews

    h. Trianium (Thanks, seoulbrova)
    i. http://www.amazon.com/Trianium-Prot...66&sr=8-1&keywords=Trianium+Tempered+Glass+s7
    ii. Currently Unavailable
    iii. NA on Price.
iv. http://xdaforums.com/galaxy-s7/accessories/buy-screen-protector-amazon-t3330080 says it all. Avoid this protector-- clearly not the correct fit.

    I. Tech Armor (Thanks, a.gu)
    i. http://www.amazon.com/Tech-Armor-Sa...&qid=1457382650&sr=8-1&keywords=tech+armor+S7
    ii. Available now
    iii. $7.95
iv. Reviews are pretty bad. This is another one to be avoided. 1.5 stars

    j. Skinomi Matte Thanks mrnamster, C0derbear.
    i. http://www.amazon.com/Skinomi®-Matt...d=1457635059&sr=8-1&keywords=skinomi+matte+s7
    ii. Available March 13th
    iii. $9.95
iv. Reviews are 3.0, but we have two fellow forum members that are satisfied with it, "Just put on my skinomi matte. Perfect edge to edge fit. Not digging the rainbow effect though.", and, "Second the Skinomi Matte, fits nicely. The Edge display looks a bit different under it, like the skin itself is lighting up not like it's a layer on top of the display. Previously used a tempered glass on my GS5 so this is a big difference. Touch feel of the skin is good. Had to remember how to put on a protector cleanly though, took a couple tries to get it done (but I had budgeted one 'practice' protector to burn). Haven't noticed a rainbow effect though." Fakespot claims 81.3% low quality reviews http://fakespot.com/product/skinomi...int-anti-bubble-lifetime-replacement-warranty

    k. Spigen Film thanks, JayX2A, Artius89
    i. http://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Protec...-1&keywords=galaxy+s7+spigen+screen+protector
    ii. NOT AVAILABLE
    iii. N/A Price
iv. From our forum mates, we are able to verify that this one is not sticking to the sides. "Same here with spigen, they don't stick at sides." and "Thats a bit of bad news. I would have expected better from Spigen." Another one to avoid.

It looks like it is hard to find full coverage glass screen protector at this moment. If you find any good glass screen protectors, please reply to the thread, and I’ll add it to the post as frequently as I can.

Just got my Coral protector. The fit is good but it has some defects... almost like its scratched around the inside before it curves... strange. Also the dots are highly visible (haven't seen one like this in 10 years). Fingerprints galore! Also, it doesn't adhere very well... I noticed it was sliding around... this seemed to be due to the Spigen case I have lifted it off the screen. Tried to gently re-adhere and noticed the screen cracked in 4 places. I'm not new to this so I'm highly disappointed. So 10 minutes in, it's in the garbage... I've contacted them to see what they'll do.

would be nice to just color code all brands. seems like most of them are crap and should be marked RED, with ones that are a maybe Orange, and confirmed with pictures in this thread Green?
    3
I finally found one that works for me.
First look at the screen protector.
    9r87yg.jpg

After application. Note that there's no halo effect!
    4qt0jp.jpg

Close ups of the corners. Can see that it doesnt goes all the way down, but there's maybe just 1mm of uncovered area left.
    2rpftld.jpg

    25s7bdy.jpg

Top cut outs. Its not 100% perfectly aligned, but doesn't affect functionality. But for those OCD types you might want to take note of this. (After realignment, the top cut out is much better, but the slot for the proximity sensor area is still somewhat narrow. Again, this does not affects functionality. Wave to wake is still working as is screen dimming during calls.
    4t7fx1.jpg

Bottom. (Alignment of the screen protector is a B1tch. But eventually managed to align the capacitive buttons properly. It's a real pain when you try to align it and the stupid buttons keep fading out within 2 seconds)
    161i5na.jpg

    eas181.jpg

So far quite happy with my purchase. Touch sensitivity is slightly degraded, but still excellent, no issue with sywping :D however, the home button does take a little getting use to as it's now a little sunken in, but fingerprint reading operations is still working perfectly.
Link to the screen protector here.
