Just switched to Fire Nexus from stock 4.6.6.

I use it as an offline music/video device. So there is no sim card in the phone.

Battery drain in Airplane mode. Pretty much all the battery usage from "Cell Standby". Which should be off if we are in Airplane mode. Lost about 90% in about 15hrs. Didn't experience this issue with the stock ROM.

Thoughts?

First, great ROM, love it!

Second, I also have the battery drain with no sim even when airplane mode is on.

Third, Google Camera works great on this ROM with the exception of it crashing when you try to take a picture with HDR on. I know HDR is a known issue but would it be possible to do something like in this ROM and add a wrapper to disable the HDR altogether?

Aside from that this ROM is basically perfect ? good work.

I've started to integrate the September security updates from Google, so will look into this before release.

Are you running with gapps installed?

I did a clean install without gapps, SuperSU and no sim installed and the battery life was great

Yes, it was a clean install. I am running with the base fire nexus ROM in your first post, which I believe includes the gapps-nano? In the battery usage informational screen, at the top was Cell Standby.

Other apps installed, Amazon underground, Amazon Instant Video, Amazon Prime music. Other than that I haven't done much to it.

Great job on the ROM though, you are keeping the fire phone alive for many of us =).

Sorry, I was thinking about the wrong ROM. Failed context switch ?

I'll try to reproduce it on the coming week.

Thanks for the ROM. It took about 5 or 10 minutes to get it going after I read this thread. It turned my $30 Fire phone that had been thrown into a drawer after we no longer needed it as a hot spot (what we had bought it for) into a great, upscale phone just at the time my old phone died and I needed one.

I put Google camera on it yesterday after I got the ROM going but all it had was a camera, no video and the camera was very basic. I tried several others including Open Camera, nothing but Google worked. I tried Open Camera again today and now it works great. A good camera was the last thing I needed to finish the phone for my needs.

Once again, thanks, You've saved me a lot of money and I have a lot better phone than I could have afforded. I love the pared down OS and Google.

For all those having problems to connect to 5 GHz WiFi - I have found a way to enable the channels above 56.

Solution:
the file

\system\etc\wifi\WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini

should be changed so that the variable gEnableDFSChnlScan=1 (by default it's set to 0)

I opened this bug in the bug report, but now it can be closed. (though the problem of very slow wifi speed in 5GHz band still remains).

Hmmm.. After upgrading to this new version by using the dirty flash (over the previous version from 13.08), then re-install the Xposed - now every reboot it goes over "andriod is upgarding" - optimizing apps, so a restart of the phone now takes several minutes. :(
Weird.

I got the same thing.

For the rest the rom is fine! Everything works.

This is one more reason to separate the ROM itself from the Gapps - and distribute the ROM only. Anyone, who needs Gapps will then need to install the Gapps version as he likes it: nano, pico, full, etc. And from any date.

Several people had same problem with the latest cm11 release for fire phone. Using an older version of open Gapps fixed it. I am using July 31 micro open gapps with latest cm11 for fire phone.

Thanks, will try that.

One more question: I cannot get Google Duo to work. It says that the camera can't open or is in use. Is this the camera bug that's stated in the OP? I've installed OpenCamera, and that works.
Thanks!

Great! Thanks! Look forward for a fix. And I (as well as all others here) really appreciate your work and efforts! MANY THANKS!

P.S.: On the other hand, the issue is not that important or critical. :) It may sure wait till the next regular ROM update, e.g. due to the security patches, etc. We are not in a hurry. :) I usually restart my phone 2-3 times a month.

That's awesome!

I've found one more thing: when opening Whatsapp Web (to use Whatsapp on the internet: https://web.whatsapp.com), the camera is not working properly. It cannot read the QR code. Can someone try it?
Don't know it's something that can be fixed, but it would be a lifesaver for me since I always used that :)

Thanks again for the rom, it's amazingly fast and stable.

Thanks ggow for making firephone great again. Any news on an update? Thanks.

I am just asking, ggow, when will you update this fire nexus rom further?

I haven't received my new laptop back yet. Then it needs to be configured and tested to see if the CPU throttling problem has been sorted out or not. If it can't be fixed then I'll have to choose another machine.
