No, it should open the directory in which the selected folder exists. Similar to "Open Folder Location" context menu option in Windows.

When some feature is present in an earlier version and is not available in the current version, I would call it as "removed" and not missing. I would say missing if the feature is not available at all and I request the developer to include the "missing" option.
Now, let me correct you with the tap counting number:
The workaround that you have suggested is a good one but it does not take you to the directory in which the selected folder exists. To explain what I mean, let me give you an example:
Folder selected with long press - 1st tap
Menu option - 2nd tap
Properties - 3rd tap
Click on the path in Properties - 4th tap
but that will open the folder and show you the contents in that folder and not the location of that folder.
One would have to click on the drop-down menu on the top to go one level on top - 5th tap
Then select the folder one level up - 6th tap
This will now show you the location of that folder similar to "Open Folder Location" in Windows.
Hope the above clarifies!
When you are, for example, in All Folders view, isn't that what happens when you tap a folder?
If you want to open the parent of the tapped folder, you tap the arrow after the folder name on the Navbar toolbar to navigate the hierarchy.
Btw, if @HootanParsa implement a "..." (go to parent directory) as the first item in every folder view, this action to reach parent folder would become much easier.
If you want to open the folder in a new tab, tap the "Open in new tab" command in menu of selected folder.
Navbar long-press menu also includes an "Enter the path" option.

No, tapping a folder in the "All Folders" view just simply opens that folder and does not take you to the directory in which the folder exists. There was an option earlier "Go to location" but it was later removed from the menu option.

I do not see this issue when I tried to create a folder now. Which version are you seeing this issue? Try to use the latest one and check.

Glitch detection time:
1. With "Split action bar" option enabled. Open Find Bar, type a letter, select a file in the list, press Back key to deselect the file. Now you will see that the tiny X button to clear the Find Bar disappeared.
2. Normally, the tiny X button used to clear the Find Bar also clear the highlighted letters, because the text to find is empty. But there are cases when it doesn't clear the highlights. Sometimes it fails to clear highlights of folders, and times it doesn't clear any highlight. Dunno how to describe reproducing steps, but should happen easily.

Ahhh, for folders it takes you inside the folder whereas for files it takes you to the parent (and this only requires one additional tap of back button rather than all that other stuff you mentioned). Thanks for clarifying. To your point, going to parent folder does indeed seem like a natural action from the properties panel. Also if HP does that then we're back to 3 taps with properties button visible and dont really need the menu item (not that there is anything wrong with it).

Dunno why HP is not confident of these "TEST" versions stability... For me they seems to be more stable due to the included extra fixes. Latest is the latest of all, be it test or beta.

Interesting to know: I can create files, but not folders.
I even revoked permission to MiXplorer in Amazon Drive and re-connected, but still the same problem.
I am able to create new folders in Amazon Cloud Drive in MiXplorer without any issue.
Are you sure you're logged into Cloud Drive? From the looks of your log, it would seem you're not. I kept getting "failed" until I logged in again. Seems something went wrong with the log in during the initial setup of Cloud Drive in MiXplorer. Are you seeing your other files/folders? Tap on the Cloud Drive tab to attempt to log in again. That's what worked for me.
Latest test version on stock Google Pixel XL running 7.1.1.

On the latest "Test" version I can't move multiple files (cut/paste) from my bookmarked PC folder to my phone, internal or external SD. The 1st file sometimes does get moved, but then it says "Operation failed".
I went back to MiXplorer_v6.10.6.BETA_B1612172 and it works just fine there. This is on Resurrection Remix N, but it did the same thing on M too.
No big deal since the Beta works, just thought I'd mention it

I have galaxy j200gu stock rom rooted with supersu 2.79 stable..

For what this may be worth eliminating potential causes: In TEST-B1701111 on CM12.1 with SuperSU 2.7.9 I can access root at "/" where I see the expected system and other files, and can access "/root" which is empty as I've grown to expect on this device. Same thing in CM File Manager.
- TotalCommander maintain timestamp of files after copying them to Google Drive, while MiX uses uploaded time.
- It would be nice to be able to manage Trash folder of Drive.
(above things might also apply to other remote storage services, but I test only Drive)

I can't understand what's wrong about MiX not being updated in 5 months ( not even 5 since the beta, almost ... ), it'd sure be a problem if in this time there had been a major security vulnerability that affected MiX directly -- there hasn't been any such thing.
You could read a comparison I made with the best file managers there are today and MiX is honestly on the faster half of that group when it comes to updates. Granted, since MiX isn't open source you cannot see developer and / or contributors working on it as you can with, say, Material Files.
But the longevity of this very active thread, more than a decade, and the multiple warnings given about Hootan, the developer, taking long breaks, plus the availability of mail to contact directly should all give you some confidence.
Edit : Look, I've actually taken up MiX's most similar alternative, in terms of being closed source, one developer, freemium software, with Play Store and non-Play Store versions, with a very active forum, and that has been around for way more than 10 years :
Total Commander.
Apples to apples comparison. Last version : 3.42, May 29 of 2023. New version : 3.50, March 27 of 2024.
That's 10 months. I didn't hear anyone say 'Total Commander is dead' in those 10 months.6
I think you misunderstood how updates works in android stable apps.
If there is no need to "update" why he should do it, and what to update? To cover your placebo needs? 7 months since the last update as you said, for a stable app is pretty fine if you ask me.
This app exists for years, have most bugs fixed and features applied, it's not like a fresh new app which have to get updates every week to make progress.
If you hesitate so much to spend few bucks on the best file explorer out there, then get it from here which is free (as you may already did) and enjoy it without worrying too much about your money.
As many others said, dev taking regular breaks from XDA and he has and personal life. I don't think he abandoned anything. It's not something new, this how he works for years.
If you have any serious bug to report or a feature request, use the email which can be found in Play Store and contact him and perhaps with that opportunity you could ask him about the future of the app..6

All the extra comments and discussion relating to this and other posts of yours in here can be ended easily. You either like the app, so you use it. OR you don't like the app, so you probably shouldn't use it. It's simple.
You've said that you thought the project was dead. Me and others have informed you that that's not the case but you don't seem happy enough with that.
If there was a major issue with the app it would be solved. Most things that may happen probably have a viable workaround. The dev is a regular person to and definitely doesn't have to spend all of their time on here just so people know it's not a dead project.
Whether you were going to buy it is irrelevant. Even if you did buy it, it still doesn't entitle you to quicker updates.

The project is far from dead. HootanParsa regularly takes extended breaks from XDA, months at a time sometimes, but is brilliant with catching up with feature requests/bugs/etc. when they return. For the extent at which most users will use MiXplorer, everything still works great. Obviously there may be some niche issues and the odd request here and there but everything works more than fine, for the most part12Ok guys, thanks. I'm feeling lazy to search and read rn

Your post is no. #43,838. That's a strong indicator for the passion and long standing development and support from the developer - despite some breaks in between. You'll have difficulties to find another app having a longer history than MiXplorer. And of course, I cannot speak for the developer, but I'm quite sure, there will be updates in the future. So there are good reasons to support the developer now and in the future.10
Google severely restricts access to files, MIX's image viewer can handle viewing files better because it has permissions to handle all files. Use a gallery application that you can give permissions to handle all files to, for instance this one, open-source, with no trackers or malvertising :
