This ROM is better than stock nougat and lineage os? Especially in screen and battery performance. I'm going to buy a g4 plus next week, and on my g2 I got very used to nougat, I love it. So I want to quickly replace stock marshmallow with some nougat ROM, recommend this? Thanks!

You can surely consider installing this ROM. Though, I've not spent much time on stock Nougat on my G4, I have been using the phone as my primary phone, which means my work email and files too get synced to it via G Suite subscription. Since flashing to this ROM around end of November, not have had a single bootloop or random freeze, which is FAIRLY good for a custom ROM. Battery, performance and features, all have been topnotch.

Plus the dev is quite active with regular updates, and the users on the support thread are helpful. Best bit is the ROM's official RR status, so you can expect only the best and most stable builds.

The only thing that initially kept me from upgrading to nougat was having to be without Xposed, but I guess, the huge set of customization options of RR coupled with the features that come as part of Nougat have sufficed to make living without Xposed possible. Plus XDA itself has an active modding community, so won't at all be tough finding what works best for your specific needs for which you'd otherwise depend on xposed.

Here's my set up on Moto G4 Plus XT1643 :
RR 5.8.1 (Latest build with FULL substratum support) + Gapps Mini + SuperSU 2.79SR3 + ARISE with DD+ + Arter97's YouTube AdFree Mod (based on wanam's xposed module) + Greenify Donation + EXKM

Try this boot image. Not a flashable zip. Extract and flash as image.
Now is working great Again

Thanks a lot! I know about xposed, but I learned to live without it. EXKM due to some problem with the screen burn with this ROM?

@Silesh.Nair - thought i would bring this to your notice. I have been on RR for athene in the few months. Due to my constant fiddling, i had to wipe and reflash right from MM firmware onwards. I followed the correct procedure all the way (right from flashing MM, upgrading to N Soak and then flashing RR). Not sure what changed, but RR flash failed every single time saying 'cannot flash over incompatible data' (not exact verbatim, sorry i failed to note that down).

I tried flashing old builds of RR - Dec, Nov but all gave the same result. Finally, I had to go back to a TWRP backup of working RR that I had and I am back now. But I thought I would let you know that something has changed somewhere and the old instructions aren't working anymore.

PS: I used those very same instructions to install RR in the first place, so I believe I know what I am talking about.

Thanks Lankern, didn't realise Ambient Display was needed. Appreciate that! :D The phone actually wakes up on lifting and an added bonus is notifications appear again on a sleeping phone.

Just to expand on your instructions, initially going to Settings>Configurations>Quick Settings >Tile Layout, and changing the number of columns to 5 and changing the number of rows to 3 made it possible/easier to drag up the Ambient Display on the Notifications shade without it bugging out (too much!). I also found that the Lift to Wake toggle goes back to off when you return to Display, but seems to be a visual bug as the screen still turns on upon lifting the phone.

In summary, it appears the fix is broadly:
[Optional]Go to Settings > Configuration > Quick Settings > Tile Layout, set columns to 5 (or more, just to stop the Quick Settings from bugging out too much. You could change the number of rows too if you desire).
Pull down Quick Settings and pull on the right side of the Quick Settings to expand
Tap the downward-facing double arrow in the top right corner (next to the cog wheel) to expand all the Quick Settings Tiles available
Scroll to the bottom of the Tiles list, drag Ambient Display to the dark grey active Tiles part of the Quick Settings
Tap Ambient Display to activate. (Not sure if a reboot/soft reboot is needed at this point)
Go to Settings > Display
Toggle on Lift to Wake (toggle may reset upon going back into Display)
Sleep the phone and lift to test

Anything I missed?

Bro neither my ambient display nor my lift to wake up seems to work! :(

    RR Add-ons...

As of build 3/22 you no longer need the fingerprint homebutton enabler zips. Both features are included in the build.

Go to > Settings > Moto Actions and choose your options ;)

    ======================================

    Spectrum Support
As of build 8/24 I have included Spectrum Support (root is required). More info can be found here.

Spectrum is a simple kernel profile manager. I have included 3 built-in profiles (Stock, Lightning Blade v1.5, and Glassfish v1.2) more coming soon! You can easily change between the 3 profiles by using the Spectrum app. If you choose not to use the app, that's fine as it won't effect anything if you don't. The choice is yours. This is why I don't include it built into the ROM, but instead as an extra option if you choose to utilize it.

If you would like to use it, attached at the bottom of this post is a flashable zip. The zip includes the Spectrum v2.0 app and a .spectrum_descriptions file (for correct/custom descriptions of each profile and what they do). All you have to do is flash the zip and grant root permissions, easy as that.

    Update 3/22

    New build - RR-N-v5.8.5-20180322

    md5sum: 0e0b101529232f69321050d3a7b8dbc6

    ++ Changes ++
    • Mostly March Security Patch updates
    • Fully rebased Resurrected Kernel (nougat edition)
    • CAF/AOSP upstream kernel updates
    • Added summary to Moto Actions (for real this time)
    • Updated Moto Actions to include both Fingerprint homebutton and sleep/power button features
    • LineageOS updates as of 3/22/2018

As of this build, you will no longer need the fingerprint homebutton enabler zips as both features are now included. You have a choice of using either option (you can't use both at the same time for obvious reasons) as well the fingerprint wake-up option. Choosing the sleep features makes the fingerprint sensor act as the power button. A single press (now with vibration!) will lock the device. A long press will bring up the power menu (also with vibration!). Truthfully, I find it to be a lot more functional than previously setup.

I ran the changelog from the previous build to this build, meaning it includes ALL changes from then till now. This update includes mostly security patch updates from LineageOS. I forked all of RR's nougat repo's and updated the ones that needed updating accordingly. Everything else (besides my device, kernel, and vendor sources) gets updated automatically each source sync. You can see all the changes to RR's sources at ResurrectedRemix GitHub. I did it this way so it's easier to keep track of. I have not changed RR's source in any other way or added/removed any features except what's in my device and kernel source.

    Anyway, enjoy the new update!
    35
Almost finished with a new update for you guys. Got something special for you coming with this new update. Let's just say you will no longer need to flash the FP-HOME-Enabler zip anymore. Both fingerprint homebutton and sleep/power button features will be included in Moto Actions...finally :)

    Some teasers...

Can we taste Oreo from new year ???? Dev
Nougat has been the best daily driver so far ......
Believe me, I'd love to post an RR Oreo based build, but I can't as the sources aren't public yet. From what I understand, RR waited until 8.1's release being that 8.0 was short lived anyway.

Trust me, as soon as RR releases Oreo sources, I will be on top of that **** and you guys will have an Oreo based RR build [emoji41]

EDIT: As well as a 64bit version too!

Speaking of 64bit, most of the work being done with 64bit (device, kernel, and vendor source) is all based off of the 8.0 and 8.1 source. I'm working at trying to backport the functionality but my skills only go so far, so I can't make any promises (yet) on a 64bit version of RR Nougat
