Hi.

I have UT on my N4. I want to go back to android. Would I be able to use wugfresh toolkit to just flash back to android?

Thanks.

I just tried it out recently and this is my opinion: overall I was nicely surprised how mature is this OS already. For common applications you will find alternatives. It is user friendly and fast just like android. Compared to Android it has pros and cons, depends on your preferences (even if you are not geek). The best thing about it for me is its philosophy – I will much rather support community then a corporation. On the other hand, I really miss swype keyboard. I was so surprised there is no finished swype keyboard for Ubuntu Touch yet, because swype saves so much time for me.

Flashing Ubuntu touch in secondary ROM?

So, a lot of tutorial are saying that multi rom manager app to download and install. Is there any other way so that we could flash the Ubuntu directly using .zip files in secondary rom? If this is possible, which file is needed for stable version(link)?

use the multirom application and select stable channel (best dist for nexu4)

I'll be happy to know: can I install a linux torrent client on Ubuntu for phones?
I want to turn my old Nexus 4 into a seedbox basically. place it near the router and use the wifi.

Because I'm much more intrigued by the idea of turning my useless device into a server for other things besides torrents.

UBport - mako

All,

As you may know Cannonical dropped the support of Ubuntu Touch and UBport is going to support our terminals
For information https://ubports.com/.

Regarding our Nexus 4, the Mako UBport support page is here https://devices.ubports.com/#/mako

For the ones who wants to keep Multirom, please see enclosed a modified apk to allow UBport repository. It's currently working on my testing phone however I don't suggest to run this apk on a daily driver and don't take responsibilities for any issue.

Installation procedure:
- in android, desinstall multirom apk,
- reboot into the recovery,
- rename on your computer Multirom_mako_UBport.apk to 1.apk
- push the apk to your phone
Code:
adb push 1.apk /data/app/
,
- change the right
Code:
 adb shell
then
Code:
chmod 644 /data/app/1.apk
- then reboot into android and copy the 1.apk also in your phone download folder.
- install the 1.apk and enjoy the UBport repository.

If you cannot install, most likely you didn't install multirom before.

To get the latest UBport version, use legacy.

I tried the multirom mako ub port apk everything install fine.
I used Ub port legacy build revision 5
It seems to start where Ubuntu touch left off
Scrolling performance is bad but otherwise things seem to work I only tested features I use

The unofficial Ubuntu app store is really nice to have means a few more apps

Thanks for the news:good:

The Nexus 4 is the last device to be ported to UBport, so the image might have some bug.
Please report to https://github.com/ubports/ubports-touch/labels/Device: Mako in order to help the devel.

Yes the UBport image didn't bring anything new yet, there are currently setting up the server architecture to deploy all the phone images then.... will see.
To support the devel there are several ways, see https://www.patreon.com/ubports
UBport doesn't support Multirom FYI.
