Dear friends,
I found that the LTE connection is very useful when you have to leave your mobile somewhere and you can get calls and notifications through mobile connection.
I bought a Gear S3 LTE (R765) from a Singapore site because in Italy it is not available.
I sadly discovered that i couldn't register a TIM eSIM (Italian Mobile) because, while executing the registration process, I had the answer "...Can't connect to the server ...".
So I kept reading around how to solve the problem...
My first attempt was to flash a 765v hoping a different rom could help me in registering the italian eSIM on my device....: Yellow triangle brick!!!!!
Thank to the senior member adfree I realized that I flashed a Version 2 Bootloader and I could not downgrade it back.
I tried to flash another rom, a proper one for 765f, but with a BL ver.1 : brick again but in a different way: the device started with the starting screen (Gear s3 Frontier...) then it just seemed to switch off...
Trying to enter again in the Odin menu ( home button for 8-9 sec - reboot - 3 times home button - download wireless )... it was just stuck in the Tizen logo.
Here https://xdaforums.com/gear-s3/how-to/rom-samsung-gear-s3-classic-sm-r770-t3646789 I found this quote from xedaman about BokkieAndijk:

Quote:
... i found info how to get my S3 back to live again. If you have the same problems with your (bricked) S3 then go to download wirelessly mode en as soon as you see the flower then push the power button 2 seconds en let it go for 1 second, than push it again for 2 seconds en let it go for one and so on til you get him in to download wirelessly mode. May take some attempts but it saves my ass a few times.

I did it and i worked fine!

It gave me the opportunity to flash a custom rom from 765v. I thought that a custom rom would have been accepted from a V2 BL.... NOPE!

Now I am stuck again: the divice boots but remains to the booting screen (Gear s3 Frontier...). I tried to enter in Odin menu and every thing works but download wireless: It remains stuck on the Tizen Logo.
I tried to apply the same technique I used to unbrick it before but seems unuseful.

So I decided to open the device and I discovered that , as adfree said a few times, just the LTE versions have a side pinout near the strap band.
Opening the device I saw that the side pinout (5 pins) is connectd to the motherboard well known 5 pins.

I am now posting here the pics of the device opened hoping someone can help me to unbrick the device explaining how to connect the s3 pinout to a pc to let me flash it with usb odin and downgrade the BL... OR, if someone knows how to unbrick the device with another button combination, please post it!

Best Regards
P.S.
Opening the device I ruined screws and back cover, do anyone knows where to by a new backcover and some F**** (freaking) normal screws of that size?

Hello.

Thanx for posting the Pictures.

On Ebay and other sources I found Rear Case from SM-R760... which maybe is compatible with SM-R765... for around 30 $ or less...
https://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=73454226&postcount=294

But GH82-12922A I think is without Flex cable and external Pinout...

Code:
			Rear Case
SM-R760 GH82-12922A
SM-R770 GH82-12954A
SM-R765 ???

In theory it would be very easy to trace PINOUT from Rear Case of SM-R765... with Voltmeter/Multimeter...

Best Regards

I don't really know a clue about the electricity topic, if i buy a voltmeter, would you explain me how to trace the pinout map?

Is it possible that doesn't exist a flexcable for s2 and x3 LTE?

Which keyword would you suggest?

About trace Pinout... look here:
https://learn.adafruit.com/multimeters/continuity

Maybe friends or family have Voltmeter... Or somebody can help you...

If you use Google and search for GH82-12922A or GH82-12954A you will find few offers...

Code:
		Rear Case
SM-R760 GH82-12922A
SM-R770 GH82-12954A
SM-R765 ???

But here is difference between SM-R760 and SM-R765 visible:
https://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=73400968&postcount=293

Maybe you could ask sellers on Ebay... if they have this part for SM-R765... with Flex cable...
As I saw in main only Pictures of 1 side... not of both...

I spend many hours of clicking around through Internet...

Still it is not really easy to find SM-R765 infos nor users...

At the moment I am trying to find also Service Manual of SM-R730... Gear S2...
Maybe additional usefull Infos inside... about external Pinout...

But also here... hard to find...

Best Regards

Edit 1.

Here are offer for SM-R760 with more Pics... here you can see difference... GH82-12922A

https://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=71776444&postcount=42

In this post Picture is taken from Service Manual...
We can read text:
Code:
Pogo400
Pogo401
Pogo402
Pogo403
Pogo404

For easier use, I have used only last 2 Digits...
Code:
00
01
02
03
04

In attached Picture... taken from FCC SM-R765... on the left side I used same like from Service Manual...
On the right side... it is mirrored...
I hope not made mistake... :D

I will add soon next Picture for external Pins... I will use A - E
Code:
A
B
C
D
E

I hope this could help to trace...

Best Regards

Edit 1.
Added second Picture with Pins outside Rear Case...

Interesting... if I am not drunken or blind... your result looks like my used SM-R732 Pinout...
So in theory maybe not totally wrong... :cowboy:

I have at the moment NO idea how to connect to these PINs...
MAYBE Service Manual from:

Code:
SM-R730
and/[B]or[/B]
SM-R765

Can give additional Infos...

No idea if you can create Connector... if this is same dimension like on my SM-R732... this is so f%&ing small tiny...

It is untested THEORY...

Risk to Hardware damage Gear and/or USB Port of your Computer...

So please be VERY carefully before you trying something...

We will try to collect more infos...
Maybe somebody can support us/you...

Thanx in advance.

Try to contact this user...
https://xdaforums.com/gear-s3/help/please-help-bricked-gear-s3-sm-r765s-t3665558

Maybe work together to get Firmware for SM-R765F and SM-R765S...

Caution!
Be carefully with soldered wires... you can also damage your USB Port on Computer side...

Maybe you have older PC for test...

Suggestion...

1.
In theory best idea to start if you have Firmware for SM-R765F...

Yes I know it is hard...

2.
To check if Pinout and Soldering is correct successfully...

You could read out PIT (patition table) from Device with Tool Heimdall for instance...

3.
If wires correct...
Charging should be possible...

4.
If Windows Driver not connected... you see Error in Download Mode...
Check Device Manager...

Then ONLY try to switch RX and TX... NOT the other cables

Hello,
I have a bricked sm-765s.
If you have a multimeter can you measure which pin is the GND? I did not take the watch apart yet, but successfully connected it to my pc using this posts information and a home made touch pins. I am not sure about the gnd pin because the usb connection will work either way, using the gnd and the not used (maybe JIG) pin.

Hardware problem solved,... SECURE CHECK FAIL BOOTLOADER

Here we are again!
I tested the following pinout for my SM-R765f and I am confident is the same for all the devices with the ESIM option.

1 ------> POGO 401 ------> // (NO CONNECTION)
2 ------> POGO 404 ------> GROUND
3 ------> POGO 403 ------> RX
4 ------> POGO 402 ------> TX
5 ------> POGO 400 ------> +5V

Now I am stuck in a problem: Odin last version has a COM3 connection with the device but fails uploading the ROM.
The device says :SECURE CHECK FAIL: (BOOTLOADER)

HELP PLEASE!!!

Odin last version has a ...

1.
Which exact Version from Odin you are trying?

I am using successfully 3.12.3 with my SM-R732... for instance from here:
https://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2711451

2.
Please try FIRST dump PIT file... with HEIMDALL for instance:
https://xdaforums.com/wiki/Heimdall

In theory something like this:
Code:
heimdall download-pit --no-reboot --output mydevice.pit

3.
What you are trying to flash?

You have meanwhile SM-R765F Firmware?

Be carefully... to mix Firmware could be very RISKy to reach state where you have big problems to repair device...

You could try Tizen 4...

http://download.tizen.org/prereleas.../images/standard/wearable-wayland-armv7l-tw2/

Code:
tizen-unified_20170830.2.20170901.191411_wearable-wayland-armv7l-tw2.tar.gz

For ODIN use unpack/extract TAR file... for instance 7Zip extract the TAR file...

These are temporary Links... maybe soon removed... then start from here:
http://download.tizen.org/prerelease/tizen/unified/

Important... file ends with tw2... for Gear S3

Code:
dzImage
ramdisk-recovery.img
ramdisk.img
rootfs.img
system-data.img
user.img

SBOOT Bootloader untouched... unsiged...
Maybe luck it start...

If not, I have few older Images... Tizen 3 and 4... maybe we find one to start SM-R765 for further repair attempts... deeper investigation...
As these Firmwares are rooted...

SIDEeffect...
WIFI disabled by default... also no Download wireless work...

So only "safe"... if USB cable work...

Best Regards

"SBOOT Bootloader untouched... unsiged..." you mean i will find a SBOOT file to use instead of the BL?

I mean Tizen TEST Firmware is lower Security crap...

Retail Firmware is highER Security crap... to prevent easy flashing of different Firmware.

It is never an good idea to play with Bootloader... from different models... :D ;)

If luck and Tizen 4 Firmware start...

Success 1 could be you see something on Display...

Or

Success Variant 2...
Display Driver not correct but SDB work...

Tizen 4 have NO own SBOOT inside.

This is good. :good:

Prevent more trouble as you allready have. ;)

Best Regards

Edit 1.

Added Screenshot...

Only 1 TAR file... nothing else to flash Tizen 3 or 4 Images...

Step 1.
Use for instance 7Zip to extract TAR file from TAR.gz

May you please detail the operation I have to do to flash tizen 4 on the device?

I arrived to the semi-last step and I am stuck again.

P.S.

...bug I must confess that it is true: sometimes is more interesting the trip than the result.
I was a member of this awesome forum years ago, now, working on 765f I have renewed an old hobby.

Thank you adfree!!!!!

    Thanx for info. :good:

    Only to be sure...
You mean this connector from this Charger fits into the tiny hole inside Rear Case/Back Cover from SM-R765?

It could be... the part number for the SM-R765 variants is:
    GH97-19294A
    Code:
    MEA REAR-SM-R765(BLK)
    46 $

Now I need only confirmation... where to buy this...
Or maybe sites with Pictures somewhere...

    I am from Germany...
In german Ebay nearly never SM-R765 to buy...

Also in my case toooo expensive... for only want Rear Cover/Back Case...

    Best Regards

Yes, it fits all Gear S2 models (wifi version - you have to open back cover to see pins | LTE - same connector as on S3), and S3 LTE. The only thing - you'd have to carefully cut plastic on every side with a rasp, as it is slightly thicker. I did it, and it worked for me. Please see attachment images

Also, very important to use full USB cable. I've tried with several cheap chinese micro usb, and it didn't work. Probably, because they do not have all wires inside. Gear S3 original (thick) works perfectly fine
