Yes he is fixing that. I'm in beta testing and there are lot of improvement. Also there is a thread here on XDA where you can post problems/suggestions/new features requests. He is very cooperative and responsive.

I see, with this latest 4.4.4 MAL 800x480 MTCB version, no laggyness at all, in the previous version with MTC-Volume there where some little i think. But now the only thing i realize, is maybe 10 seconds more bootup time, what does no matter to me, the musik starts after boot where i left it and all i have to do is a small manual volume correction, but that's ok. Yes, MTC-Volume-Service (it simply has more controlsets than RK3x88 HeadUnit(don't mix up both...)) get's ready long after the music plays, this also has no impact at all for my usability.
Next challenge: mtc-keys .....
That 10sec prolonged boot is what I believe mtc-manager can speedup.... Didn't try it myself yet. Exact until I confirm solution for slowness I'm not flashing latest Mal ROM. As the previous one is faster and I don't see much significant new features in the new one but everyone is talking on slowness (which may not be related to Mal work directly but to sluggish Chinese kernel and bloated Google Services and closed modules which are now more complex then year ago)
I've also got the beta. I did reply to his thread w/ issues. How do you know he is fixing the FM radio issue? I've not seen him acknowledge my post.

With the clock it use to lose the time itself, but never the 24 hour setting. Giving it a little time to connect to wifi before driving off was good enough that it was never a big problem for me. But, now, even when it pulls the correct time down the way it's displayed is wrong.
Using GPS time has never worked correctly with any Malaysk version - time zones and daylight savings are always screwy. I don't remember ever trying it with stock.
The radio presets, however, always worked with the OEM ZD9 MCU.

I contacted him via email outside thread to discuss this and other specific issues with MTCB devices in particular. He fixed some of them promptly and for radio widget (as well some related issues like automatic restart of radio after BT call) there is more to be done. It is not trivial as radio is controlled via MCU and MCU API is so poorly designed and implemented by Chinese. So even stock widgets on some 'distributors' are not working flawlessly. So, he has to do some reverse engineering in order to figure out how to reliably control the radio. I sent him HCT Widget (I posted it here in other thread so anyone can use or customize it) so he can decompile and look into it (as it is one that has reliable radio on/off button which is main issue here)
I had made a tasker task to do that. Not the best solution for the radio. It it helps. The only thing that tasker do is hard killing that app when go to someting else. But you must set every player in it to do that. It's alot of work.
The solution I think is that when switching to other music app is kill totally that fm radio thing. Then load other music app. And that can be a a little tricky. It slows down the device at that time. Do the load of commands.

A radio widget that displays RDS data not the frequency would be nice.
Also the only proper multi purpose widget is the one you get in the Roximo launcher (on the fileserver in my signature), the KGL widgets are separate - one for music, one for radio, one for BT etc, the other widgets are not really widgets at all but built into the launcher, only the Roximo one, as I said is a proper widget that will appear in the list of widgets if you install another launcher and is movable - you can put it anywhere you want on the screen or delete it altogether. The ones on the fileserver are KK and L, I also have the MM version from the RK3368/PX5 MTCD units on my pc.
I think that widget could be useful to him for making a better one.
Does that widget rely on other files/programs in that launcher or can it be pulled from that launcher and put into another easily? I am running a modified widget by someone here which seems to work mostly. No RDS data which I'm ok with honestly.

Dunno about "pulled" exactly but if the Roximo launcher is installed then the widget shows up in other launchers even if the Roximo launcher isnt the main launcher, I recently installed Nova launcher and it showed up. I use Nova on my phone and the only reason I didnt use it on my headunit was because of the lack of a widget for all the MCTC apps.
If the widget could be tweaked to show RDS data and maybe even ported as an app in its own right, that would be perfect for me. The other minor thing with using a non MTC launcher are the built in apps (radio, music, dvd, BT etc) icons which default back to the first 4.2.2 versions of these head units, not a good look, nothing that couldnt be easily sorted though.
Thanks, I may have to play w/ this. I don't know if I listen to the radio enough to warrant it but maybe If I'm bored I will.

I think that rds will be a no go. Rds is send out on a different frequency. Than your radio sound. I don't think that de radio chip van Handel two frequencys at the same time.
Lol, its not just the radio, its the built in music and BT streaming apps, but if you dont use them I guess I can see what you mean.

I strongly recommend installing in a clean, full data deletion (Wipe Data) (and it is useful sometimes to clean up the accumulated garbage)
1.Updated all Google services.
